This is the freeride section of the MTB park I usually ride at. A few days ago I just happened to see a bunch of freeriders while riding the usual trails - hopped the fence to see what the occasion was - and saw this:

The preceding stunts were performed by professionals. Do not get any ideas of trying to perform them yourself! Otherwise I will don a nurse outfit to tend to your injuries-- and not a sexy nurse.

Nope, they weren't pros. I talked to a couple of them. They were just guys (mostly around my age) who had big budgets for kickass bikes and a death wish for stunts.

I can identify with that sentiment, although it'll take a few more months (or years?) of training.

They filmed those jumps with Go Pro, didn't they? Watching through fish-eyed lenses aren't optimal (and better lighting was needed).

Those aren't 'death wish' jumps. I used to do those BITD. Anyone with rudimentary skills can perform them with relative ease. You could easily learn in just a couple of days without a single crash.

@Paul, some guys are just wuss and probably never get outside away from their keyboard. Consider the source.

According to the description under the video, it was an impromptu film job...says he ran across them while filming the other trails. That would explain the GoPro and poor lighting (not to mention the area is shaded).

You are right...it's not exactly on par with Red Bull Rampage freeriding stuff, but it's also not for newbs like myself...yet...especially considering the wheels on my bike aren't anywhere near as tough as they need to be. I just broke a spoke a few days ago on a tabletop half that size.

I built a few small ramps (about 1 or 2 feet high) as a kid, but stopped after the front wheel came off during a jump in midair.

Looking back, that was cowardice of me. I've already had worse wipeouts in the past couple weeks with virtually no pain, and not a single scratch. Pads are awesome. icon_lol.gif
