not cool i agree, I am from Cape Town.

how does Azusa Los Angeles CA's crime stats look, there might not be murder, but for a town with such a small population crime is prevalent.

thus, it is not cool going around talking down another city, especially if you not sure of the population social dynamics within Cape Town.

yeah - this was terrible when it was happening in joburg. people were scared.

the common thread in the murders was that there were no signs of forced entry, and that gay men were targeted during hook-ups (arranged online or via phone apps). when the victim let the trick in, they were then tied, killed and robbed in their own homes, having opened their doors to strangers.

joburg doesn't have a gay village per se, and its community is diffuse. whereas cape town is a smaller city with a concentrated community and a visible community. hopefully people will be extra vigilant.

I read this article yesterday. The most infuriating thing is that there is STILL no task team for this particular investigation!! What the hell?

This is really quite sick. I can't imagine the mindspace these gang members have to be in to do something like this... At the same time quite scary, especially when homophobes endorse that behaviour.

What are you talking about? I did not write the article. My intention was not to bad mouth Cape Town. I don't think that was the intention of the writer either. Bad things can happen any place. But that it is happening should be known and not hidden.

    That, and...

...prevalent? the data shows crime in Azusa as being 16% less than the US average.

    Next time cite Camden...
