I look too young, and I hate it. I'm 23 for Christ's sake, when the fuck am I going to look my age?

I took a look through the profiles of RJ members that are around my age or even younger, and I look like a kid next to them. The worst part is that it's not something I even have control of. No body hair, peach fuzz in the face, still have acne (though less from a few years ago), and the lanky physique of a teenager... it sucks.

One time (when I was 21) I was scoping out a few strip malls around where I lived for work. At an AT&T store, when I asked, the woman couldn't even talk to me... she just gave me this fucking condescending smile like I was just a ballsy 14 year old (I looked even younger then)... then OFFERED ME FUCKING CANDY! I felt so humiliated.

Last year I got stopped by both the security guards at my brother's high school because they thought I was trying to run away from class when I was leaving after I brought him his lunch money. Even just looking around, it was scary the amount of teenagers that looked even older than me.

I was never able to get into sports in High School either, just because I was so undeveloped-- I never stood a chance against the gorillas in my class, so I avoided playing at all. I've proven to be fairly talented at most sports I try, but I've become habituated to avoiding sports.

I always hear, "you'll be glad when you're older". Well, apparently I'm not getting any older! Sigh... thanks for listening. I really needed to get that out, it was eating me bad. I really, really wish I could do something about it... but it's just hormones.

So be it. I got to say what I wanted to say. I don't need any listeners.

Don't sweat it. Being mean to newcomers is our initiation process.

But really, it's not like young & hairless is a type that is unpopular.

Body hair is a chore. Even if it's not your ideal, each body type has benefits.

    How pleasant.

The condescension is what drives me nuts. I don't actually have any major body-image issues. I just hate being talked down to just because of how I look.

    True, I suppose.

Sit out in the sun, smoke cigarettes, and drink beer all day. That will suck the age out of you real fast.

168? hmm for 6'1" that's a little slim, but you're young ... maybe you should get into a weight lifting class and start eating lots of potatoes, pasta, avacados, bananas ... etc

I feel your pain. People still treat you like a kid, and you don't really look much different from 5 years ago. Just take it for what it is, and be glad you aren't aging too quickly. I had a friend in 6th grade who looked like he was already going bald.

When you're older, you'll wish you look younger. A lot of those sexy guys you've been admiring will age really bad. When I look at the kids I went to school with - WOW, they did not age well. And we're only in our 30's!

I think you look perfectly fine for your age. Looking young is just an insecurity you need to overcome, just like everyone else with their own 'thing.'

Yeah it may suck now but think of the thousands you will save on cosmetic treatments in the future.

If your lucky enough to look younger than your years thank god everyday when you look in the mirror, I would ! icon_biggrin.gif

My first thought here was that the OP was fishing for validation for his youthfulness but I do remember feeling that way all through my twenties. Even though I had an education and good job I couldn't shake being treated like a kid. Learn to use it to your advantage as I did. As you approach 30 and beyond, a youthful appearance has advantages in matters of love and career, especially when interviewing for either.

    I guess I should've posted a rant about how I, at 28, look like I'm in my mid 30's...

When I was 24, I did have a woman ask me for my I.D. when I was buying a pack of Guinness-she called me "baby face"; I could only wish to be so fortunate now. icon_wink.gif
