I love cold salads in the summer, but it's now winter, so...what's your favorite winter salad?

What are some of your favorites?

I like things like tabouleh and salads made with a grain base, so I suppose you could put those in winter, but I eat them all the time.

Cole slaw used to be a winter standard, but now lettuce is available all the time.

Interesting that my favorite warm salad--wilted lettuce--is a summertime thing, most likely due to its using leaf lettuce, which used to be a strictly summer thing.

It is something from generations past when greens and fresh veggies were not so available in winter. Waldorf Salad is one, cole slaw, canned fruit salad, congealed salads...that sort of stuff.

    Also bean salad?

Well I like all of those. No mayo with the slaw though.

I like a nice bed of frosted romaine lettuce leaves with a big ice pop of Italian dressing on top.

My salads are pretty consistent throughout the year. Fresh greens, cucumber, bell pepper, carrots, cherry tomato, grilled protein. No dressing or vinaigrette. I can eat salad everyday for lunch. My co workers think I'm kinda nutty.

One of favorite weekend activities is buying my veggies and prepping them for the week ahead. I am really in love with raw cucumber these days. I'll throw it on just about anything.

How about a spinach salad with warmed spinach salad dressing? Add sliced strawberries, blueberries and slivered almonds - and some black pepper - and you've got my favorite salad - for any season.

No wonder you're gay fat. icon_smile.gif *pokes Narciso's belly*

My favorite salad this time of year will be cherry tomatoes with bleu cheese crumbles, a nice steak on top all on top of a bed of spinach.

I like salads of any kind. Most view "greek salad" as a summer favorite, but give it to me anytime. Love it... but I like most!

shaved raw brussel sprouts (or just the leaves), sliced thin shallots, blue cheese crumbles, bacon crumbles and a warm dressing made from the bacon fat, some olive oil, white wine vinegar, salt and pepper.

so very good but not too healthy! lol
