Are we sick of Dr Oz already? Being Oprah's favorite guest was one thing, this guy is annoying me. Dont we have enough FOOD shows on tv already, I much prefer the show The Doctors, at least they discuss medical issues for the whole show, some not so nice subjects. OZ drifts off into the OZ food show, not enough medical for such an MD. If I needed a food coach, I'll ask a dietitian. Why so many are "hooked" on OZ is beyond me, same people that rely on that Dr Phil i guess.

    Which do you prefer?

    The Doctors
    The OZ Show

I am not a big TV guy outside of certain programs...but it does seem like OZ has been all over the small screen lately. Maybe his handlers are capitalizing on the New Year Resolution thing.

The appeal is obvious: he takes complicated subjects and breaks them down to the lowest common intellectual denominator. Then they throw in some 'Oprah-ized' tearful testimony and a few audience games with prizes and viola!!

As far as medical mass media, I think the Doctors is a step above Dr. Oz, but I prefer Dr Gupta the most. He covers all sides, explains things without patronizing, and does not resort to kitsch to make his point.

If its important enough and backed by credible science, I figure I'll hear about it regardless. I don't need to waste my time watching TV shows that pander to fear, product placements, and junk science and that applies to Oz and the doctor's the few times I have seen them.

Dr. Oz is a smart guy and a good surgeon, but his success is based off of answering questions that women often don't want to ask and avoid.

I must admit I watch the show about an hour a week while working online and the only thing is it is overkill. If you really did all his suggestions I am not sure you would ever get anything done.

However, I do pick up tips and ideas that are helpful and in the end that is the point. So why I do find him annoying at times, I am willing to watch and learn a little each week with no regrets.

Agree (also yay for dietitians icon_razz.gif). He's educated and trained as a surgeon and medical doctor and businessman (MBA), but now he markets himself as a nutritionist/expert (thanks to that MBA I'm sure). Then there was the arsenic scare and the reparative therapy for homosexuals. I don't like him and think someone needs to put him in his place.

OMG! Me too! I'm looking forward to the James Franco movie!

I agree about the Dr Oz show too! And I can't stand the Doctors show but then again, the lead doctor is a hottie!

Not interested in Oprah or her band of desciples who say they want to "change your life!" I'm a decent, well educated, regular person. No changes needed, Oprah.

If you don't like him, don't watch him.

I don't watch any of the doctor shows. I find them to be more about hype than about useful advice. The few times I've paid attention to Dr. Oz he seems to be overemphasizing the use of supplements and telling his audience to take them in much too high a dose.
