I was in AMWAY for about 4 years back in the mid 1990's....and had to get out back then because it was too much religion, politics and homophobia....the rest of the world seems to be agreeing with me.....icon_cool.gif

But nobody boycotts them because they're a MLM? If anything, I'd boycott them for that...

There's nothing wrong with MLM as long as products are worth buying, but my gosh, they are the worst kind. Who wants some overpriced toilet paper?

Agreed. And the whole structure does look like a pyramid scheme.

Well, pyramid schemes are illegal in their rawest sense, but what a lot of companies do is have a NEAR pyramid scheme by having a worthless product that they attach to a compensation plan and then mark it up to pay out the commissions to distributors. But there are a few good companies that actually sell products worth buying for the price you pay. The bad apples give the whole industry a bad name though.

I'm inclined to say let him do whatever he wants to do with his money. It's a poor business decision at best.

Here in Orlando, this is a great venue for NBA basketball, minor league hockey, concerts, my company's holiday party in 2012 and....the circus! Believe you me, I wish it had another name as well.......icon_sad.gif

Aristoshark saidThe difference in law between 'multi-level marketing' and a pyramid scheme is actually simple: In a pyramid scheme, there does exist some sort of product, but the money is mainly made in selling distributorships. In 'multi-level marketing' the bulk of the profits must actually come from the product. Amway sells some kinds of grotty beauty products and skin care. From what I've been told it's really low-grade stuff, but they sell it to people in trailer parks.

And Amway, of course, is not a "scam", but it might as well be since they pay out the worst in the industry for the work you put int it and their products aren't any better than what you can get at walmart.

They're broke and according to business insiders about to be taken over by US Airways.
