    We'll see what their constituents have to say about this. Now that the Sandy Hook parents have gone public the pressure to pass sensible gun control laws is only growing.

    “Is it something that can pass the [Democrat-controlled] Senate? Maybe. Is it something that can pass the [Republican] House? I doubt it,” he said in video of the program provided to TPM by Vegas PBS. “So I think there are things that we know we can do.”

    Note for those not immersed in US politics: Senator Harry Reid quoted above is the Leader of the Democratic Majority in the US Senate, and therefore the de facto leader of the entire Senate. There's a President of the Senate (who's also the US Vice President under the Constitution, currently Joe Biden), but tradition & practice have relegated the actual leadership role to the party majority leader.

    I guarantee you that Democratic Senator Mary Landrieu of Louisiana will not vote for it. She's coming up for re-election in a very red state.
