Thought I'd start this thread up for 2013 now that we're into January. So, what tri's are on your schedule for 2013?

I'm still very new to the tri world, so I'm focusing on getting stronger and faster at Sprint and Olympic distances this year with local events here in the DFW area. My race list:
    • St. Patrick's Day Tri - Keller, TX - Sprint (3/10/13)
    • Playtri Festival - Irving, TX - Olympic (6/2/13)
    • TWU Pioneer Power - Denton, TX - Sprint (7/29/13)
    • Stonebridge Ranch - McKinney, TX - Olympic (9/29/13)

Plus, I will also be running the NYC Marathon on 11/3/13 since I have guaranteed entry after being trained (and in NYC) for the 2013 race that was cancelled due to Superstorm Sandy.

Just did Wildflower Olympic last weekend, what a great time. I have the Donner Lake Olympic, Lake Tahoe Olympic and Big Kahuna in Santa Cruz lined up, looking forward to it!

I'm beginning to think already about what tris I am going to enter in 2014, but it will probably be pretty much the same ones that I did this year. This year I did Green Bay Triathlon and won the 1st place sprint award in my age division (50-54). I also did the High Cliff Triathlon and got 3rd in my sprint age division. And, I also did the Oshkosh Triathlon, but I only placed 5th in my sprint age division, so didn't win an award in that one. I've always done the sprint because I don't know if I have the endurance for the longer courses.

I'm not just a tri athlete, though. I really like doing duathlons, too, and the highlight of my summer is Race the Lake, which is a 90 mile bike race around Lake Winnebago that starts and finishes in Fond du Lac, WI. It's the largest and longest all citizen bike race in the US and the bike course covers 4 counties in the state. Although the course is open to other motor vehicle traffic, all intersections have either traffic control sheriffs, police and other volunteers holding back the traffic, so we don't have to stop or slow down at any intersections. We start the race in waves of 150 and there are over 2,000 riders that participate in this bike race every year. There is over $15,000 given away in cash prizes to the elite wave 1 riders. To be in this wave, you have to have averaged at least 25 mph in a bike race of at least 60 miles in distance. Since I averaged 25.1 this year in Race the Lake, I am thinking about going in wave 1 next year, so that I am elgible for the cash prizes.
