I noticed there have been some RJ members that messages random guys in order to try to entice them to vote for him to win the man of the day contest... this is very sad I find.

Oh I know, just simply disappointed that people actually do that in order to just win this little contest

When that happens, and it has been very rare, I ignore the request. In about the roughly 4-1/2 years I've been here, I've gotten just a few such requests.

What does happen is that long-time RJ friends may e-mail me, and ask for my MOTD support for someone they know. And I usually give it and vote. I trust their judgment, because I've known them a long time. So your presumption may be incorrect. Not many guys spam for MOTD, and if they did they wouldn't get my vote.

Ah but that situation is different. The way they want to win is msg random guys in order to make them think he is interested to talk or something. Then when he gets the vote, he'll stop responding.

Well again, that's unknown to me. My activity level here, based on post count, is fairly high. Yet I don't get these MOTD solicitations you imagine.

If someone was gonna spam for MOTD, wouldn't he include the guys who are online a lot? Yet I don't see that myself. Your model doesn't work in my case.

~The Story of How MOTD Came to Exist~

Once upon a time, there was a village of gay men. This peaceful village coexisted in harmony with its surroundings, its members happily cooperating in complete equality. One day, someone grabbed a useless rock from the ground and said "this is the special rock. Whoever holds this rock will be better than everyone else for a day". Despite it being a worthless piece of shit rock, the happy members desperately began clawing for it, writhing in agony to hold the valueless mineral in order to feel a sense of superior worth. Soon after this dark day someone asked "are white guys into Asians?", and it was the beginning of the end...

Did you get a nice, tight, full fisted grasp on it?

That reminds me, does anyone know how many times Asian guys won MOTD? (Oh, I don't mean Asians who can pass off as white or mixed.)

Well what I did to be todays MOTD. I emailed friends on my buddy list, members who have wanted me to win in the past reassured me, I campained for myself, Asked some members I didn't know to kindly vote for me and even gave them the opition of not choosing to.

I wanted to win for MOTD mainly because some members felt that I wasn't worthy of it and I wanted to prove them wrong.

Hmm I wonder if the last part of the story had something to do with me. I can't sense sarcasm sometimes.

Given the silliness of it all, i'm surprised members still continue to make those obnoxious "THANK YOU!!!" threads to inform everyone who didn't know they won MOTD, and have it permanently plastered over their profiles in bold text.

Since I became a member (which hasn't been very long), Kel has won Motd.

In my opinion, you should have been more personal with the members you sent the e-mail to. Your e-mail appeared generic very similar to the credit card solicitation letters I receive that starts off with the salutation "Dear Friend..."

I don't get into the whole voting game at all but I think you're a cool guy so I voted for you.
