This was embedded in another thread, so sorry for the repeat, but I thought it deserved a thread of its own, given the rarity of Gov. Palin's press interviews.

    "I would Hope that's the Case?" ! ! ! !

    "That what I'd been TOLD?" ! ! ! !

Have you had enough by now?

Are you now ready to concede that this woman is NOT Vice-Presidential material?

And Joe Biden is? Let alone Demo's have discounted him time and time again. He has run for the Demo ticket 3-4 times, and each time Demos rejected him. Not Republicans but Dems. He has run 3-4 times and each time, demos have rejected him. We will not discouse his plagarism. Demos said he was not Presidential material. Not Repubs but Demos.

Now he says that Roosevelt as President went on TV in 1929 and told the country what was what during hard times. Even though Roosevelt was not president in 1929 and there was no TV in 1929. Is he smarter than Palin?

I didn't see the intereview with the Palin woman and probably wouldn't have wanted to have sat through it, other than to make reinforcing comments about why this woman would have ever been chosen as a VP candidate.

I would vote (or agree or endorse) Joe Biden a thousand times over for the role of VP over this woman. I have absolutely no problem with Joe Biden
    as VP on day one.

I believe Biden actually appeared on national Presidential primary tickets only twice, not 3 or 4 times. But he has discussed Presidential runs over a number of years, which is not quite the same as running and being defeated.

Second, when does not finishing first mean a candidate possesses NO Presidential material? The senior George Bush finished second to Ronald Reagan and became his VP, later President. It means a party's primary voters felt the winner was BETTER qualified, not that the losers were totally UNqualified.

Versus Sarah Palin, who wasn't subjected to ANY Presidential primaries, who was merely picked at the spur of the moment by John McCain for reasons that still puzzle political observers.

BTW, I've corrected your errors about President Roosevelt in another thread. But to repeat, FDR was elected President in 1933, not 10 years after 1929 as you state there, when he was actually well into his second term. If you're going to nitpick Biden for slips, rather than address the sense of his remarks, then you become liable to nitpicking yourself.

Your correction was correct. It was late and I was responding to several forums. No excuse for sloppiness, though. I should have fact checked it before I posted it. My bad.

I am not running for President or Vice-President, though. Biden is. He may have only run a few times, but he has talked of running several times and each time he has been told no by his party.

So, was the gist of what I said wrong even though some facts were? If we throw out everything said on these forums because a minor fact or two was wrong, we would not have forums.

Wow, Brian Williams (NBC) actually aired some additional footage, where Katie asked her to revisit her claim of national security based on Alaska's proximity to Russia. Damn, she had a great chance to clarify and/or correct her previous comments, and she just ran with it further!

Holy shit. She actually tries to build a case that being close to them Ruskies enhances her foreign policy qualifications. Why didn't she just say she was speaking in tongues or something or that it was a joke?

I didn't watch this live because I just couldn't... I knew I'd be yelling back at the television and like Peru said, I'm stressed out enough as well. But I just watched the posted clip of her explanation of her foreign policy experience - I'm mean, how could any one actually think this woman is VP material. SERIOUSLY? I feel as though I'm in the middle of a big colossal joke and it went completely over my head.

At this point, I'm at a loss for words for people who are backing McCane and this Palin woman.

I can see the moon from my window. That makes me qualified to run NASA!

I've had my finger in someone's butt. That makes me qualified to be a proctologist!

I missed where Vespa said everything you said should be thrown out. ??

As for the "Biden has run so many times I can't count" meme... I think the reason people keep jumping on that is that it's needed correcting so many times, not just from you, JW, but from every Palin supporter I've heard here on RJ and in real life. It just won't die, no matter how many times we keep correcting it.

It's truth by repetition, and it's one of many pseudo facts that that I and others who value actual facts are stomping out the best we can, like little brush fires that we're trying to prevent from growing into an out-of-control blaze of confusion and obfuscation.

Anyway, just a little background on why some of us who are less interested in one ticket versus another, but more interested in trying to clear the fog of truthiness, one correction at at time.

I remain your persistent and rather obsessive compulsive defender of the disappearing distinction between fact and opinion,

    K

PS Oh, and two more things on this topic, which is available and documented all over the web, for those that care about checking their facts:

    1) Biden has run for president the same number of times McCain has -- two. And yes, I know, McCain won the nomination one of those two times and Biden didn't win either time. These are facts. I looked them up.

    2) You mentioned "talked of running several times and was told no." I suggest an exercise for interested readers. Let's just assume that "talking about running" is a significant event (which is open to debate). First, post some URLs that document these "several times." Is this one more time? Two? Three? It requires you to define what you mean by "talked of running." In a bar with a few beers in him? To his wife? To a reporter? To his Senate colleagues in private? Announcing an exploratory committee? Hiring campaign staff? Taking donations? Filing the paperwork? Once you define what you mean, and can then point to actual documented facts that allow an objective observer to count these times, then apply that SAME definition to McCain and show the corresponding count. Until you do, your statement is more of a "well it's obvious to me, so therefore it should be obvious to you" kind of truthiness that, while valid in your mind, has no real grounding in actual fact, and therefore should be valued as such. Not valued at zero, but certainly much less than a documented fact.
