There is a new out door endurance race just announced: www.out-fitchallenge.com

It's targeted at the LGBT community and taking place during gay pride in Miami and NYC. What do you guys think?

Depends. I've done SEVERAL different obstacle races. If used as sort of a gay social networking/meetup event, could be cool. Couldn't find the facebook page and the website is pretty new and missing specifics. Any idea if they donate to an LGBT organization? or anything at all? I'm for it as long as they donate to a legitimate organization, cause, or charity.

At a 5/10K, not even that. Just another reason to get gays together and make money off of them, which is why I'm only for it if they're donating money to something worthy.

It's the Hunger Games, the Gay Sex edition... icon_twisted.gif hah! I kidd!

I'd be down for something like this. I just joined the Gay Flag Football League here.... I'm pretty stoaked about it.

Because if we don't segregate ourselves from everybody else, what will we do with all these fabulous rainbow flags?

From what I understand, they are looking at one national organization - maybe Gay Men's Health Crisis - and local charities in each city in which they go. They are finalizing the negotiation with each charity and will add it to the website. I sent their general box an email after some of your posts.

They also said it's about fostering community through competitions, connections and celebrations.

They mentioned more to come with some major announcements.

Joking aside, I do like the idea of events that are just another way for the LGBT community to meet each other. Plus, the LGBT community in Britain do suffer from health inequalities compared to our hetero cousins. Anything that encourages the LGBT community to do more exercise in a fun manner is obviously a good thing.

Never done a "mudder" before....are they hard? Or just muddy?

Too bad it doesn't include mountain biking.

After all, the "trails" used for the run are actually the mountain bike trails at Oleta River State Park; and the "obstacles" are the same ones I ride over regularly on the bike.

Depends on the brand. Some are known for being tough but whether they're muddy depends on the location (though some will literally put you knee deep in mud and having you crawl through it). Others are just muddy with advertising that makes them seem tough. The UK hosts a handful of races by Spartan Race every year. I highly recommend them.

This may actually have potential. Imagine that all the hunters and prey are hot men. Of course only non-lethal means of "killing" or capturing the prey are used, like paintball guns and lassos. And if the captured prey is appropriately used by the hunters afterwards, count me in! On either side.

Good to see I'm not the only one who saw that wrong. I was beginning to question my reading comprehension skills.

Reading comprehension skills are only as effective as the writer's ability to disperse information.

BTW, That quote got me an A on a reading comprehension paper that I almost failed. icon_lol.gif

    FYI:

    sarcasm |ˈsärˌkazəm|
    noun
the use of irony to mock or convey contempt: his voice, hardened by sarcasm, could not hide his resentment.
ORIGIN mid 16th cent.: from French sarcasme, or via late Latin from late Greek sarkasmos, from Greek sarkazein ‘tear flesh,’ in late Greek‘gnash the teeth, speak bitterly’ (from sarx, sark- ‘flesh’).

An obstacle course with the morning "walk of shame", Popper huffing, interior decoration, clothing matching, gossip and flame war, cooking and serving a full meal, and the finale is the full speed run from commitment....quite the competition!icon_lol.gif

Sounds like yet another episode of Desperate Housewives.
