This is a bit of a RE: from this thread: http://www.realjock.com/gayforums/2946427/

So ya. I'm feeling a bit down tonight, and it comes in spurts. Not asking anyone to feel sorry for me, but I start to really reflect inward and become some type of philosophical guru! It's pretty crazy really, and I don't even need marijuana to feel this way icon_lol.gif!

So ya, I think lately this forum has been spewed with a lot of negativity. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think it's a lot easier to notice the bad than the good a lot of the times. It's important to remember that these are forums, and it's not totally serious business. My mindset is that I'll be able to meet some of you some day, so I'd like to be as realistic and human-like as possible. However, it is important to remember that we can be anything we want online, and I think a lot of us are maybe more loud, more philosophical, more whatever than we usually are in real life.

I think joining these forums has been one of the best things that has happened to me, honestly. Why? Well let's see...

-It's given me the courage to come out to my friends, family, and society.
-It's given me the ability to stand up for myself and others.
-It's helped me open myself up to others and explain that sexuality has nothing to do with who I am.
-Helped me gain some serious muscle mass! AWWW YEAH!
-It's allowed me to make great friends, and meet new people.

So there you have it. Josh's typical "everything is fucking wonderful in life" post.

I've had the ability to be who I am for a while now, but it's really nice that you guys have helped give me a push.

Really what I'm trying to say is, thanks. For some this forum is nothing but a place filled with drama and hate. But for me, and others, this place is a great path of entertainment, friendship, and all that sappy stuff!

    Keep it classy, RealJock!

    Josh

Josh you are awesome, don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

I will say this though, while there is negativity on this site, there is an equal number of positive posts if not more in my opinion. What you want out of RJ is what you are going to get. Jamie, personally has a lot of problems and is in denial about them, while people tried to help him, he pushed them away. There are people who purposely come on this site to troll and to annoy other members. The problem is people have to realize not to take this site and life so seriously, and just be happy. And there are members who are like that!

    Bully for you, Josh!

Are you sure you weren't stoned when you typed this post?

Be careful when giving too much credit to a friggin' web site for making you a man. This web site (and others, no doubt) have helped you along, but they aren't the sole reason for your awakening. Think about it.

Oh, and your sexuality has a lot to do with who you are. Yes, it's true. Denying that your sexual orientation has anything to do with your spirit tells me you're still in the process of coming out. Accept it.

What we gather from each other is dignity and support and courage. The doubt is flung at us by men whose arms are too busy hurling hate to gather good. Open your arms and let those of us who see your beauty deflect the fools with one hand and raise you up with the other. It is you who makes us better.
Here you gain nothing that you did not already possess - but only see it reflected and grow increasingly aware of how amazing you are
Rise and walk with us - the privilege of your company is all ours.
    XO

Glad to see your thread.. I know I commented on the other.

RJ has been a great experience for me .. you see all sort of positive examples (and some negatives). I choose to focus on the large number of positive reasons for this site and for the many quality friendships that have come from participation here. I certainly could focus on the few negatives, but whats the point. I have a great life to lead.. and everybody here should.

See your cup half (hopefully more) full... not half empty. Focus on the positives on this site and in your life.. make that.... your reality!

Have an awesome rest of the week!

What the forum has reminded me is that the gay community is just as varied as every other subset in America. Smart/dumb, optimistic/resentful, nice/cruel. We are all products of our experiences and influences. Ya, being gay is a big part of who I am, but when I come here, it is kind of irrelevant. I've generally found a lot of support for guys who need it here but also some well-timed kicking in the pants for those who need that.

With 14 people on ignore, I rarely see much negativity in the forums. It's really such a small segment of people, easily identified, and easy to put on ignore. Try it and see if the site is more fun for you. You can always unignore people later if you wish.

Sorry but you're wrong for a lot of reasons.

For one, I solely mentioned that this site has given me a push. You act like this site was the sole reason for my existence by saying it's "made me into the man I am." Not sure where you pulled that out of, bud.

My sexuality has not changed me at all. I still play video games. I still work out. I still enjoy the same sports, activities, and friends. The only thing that has changed is that I prefer a man over a woman. Still in the process of coming out? Just because you don't understand something doesn't mean you can fill in the blanks with nonsense like this. That's a really huge assumption for someone you don't even know.

I made this post to show that everyone interprets this site in their own way. Much like life, you choose what you take from it.

    Yes, you're wrong.

It's not just lately. It's been this way since day one.

You're just starting to notice it because of negative things in your personal life.

As positive things start to happen again, you'll see things differently.
