    Hi all

I've been living for three years in a room in a house , living with my landlady and now have moved into a house with 3 other gay guys. I can't begin to describe how much happier I feel. I'm able to be myself more than ever and no annoying landlady to nag me about everything etc.

I never ever understood truly how essential it is to be happy where you are living.

She was a very traditional elderly woman, very matriarchal and would tidy up my room and go in while I was away etc no matter how much I objected. She wasnt homophobic but very quaint in that she referred to gay men as " queers". Her daughter and family were interfering and annoying and despite her being supportive in many ways, I'm so glad to be out of there.

    I can be myself .

I think she was. And to think I just posted in another thread that I didn't think "queer" was really that offensive any more, that it had been mostly reclaimed.

I think she was as well . She had a major issue with my bringing a boyfriend home but her daughter who was married , divorced and with a guy 10 years younger she had no issue staying over for months .

The word " queer" is offensive depending on the context .

Yes she would! I had it out with her a few times

It's a Victorian matriarchal control issue she had . It's a very British way of reminding me its not my home . That I don't truly belong.
