"Other students in the boy's class at Inwood Elementary School noticed the knife sticking out from the boy's Scooby-Doo book binder and reported the weapon to teachers."

    Scooby-Doo..! Where are you!?

Yeah I lol'd at that too. If your gonna bring a knife into school you'd think he would keep it on the down low.

So kids as young as 11 are getting bullied for being 'gay' ? That's messed up. I guess it shows another way in which the school system in the U.S is failing. Then again if they actually tried to educate 5th graders about homosexuality there would be a huge uproar I'm sure. Tis truly fucked.

It may not even be the case. The article says he was being bullied for being gay, but that doesn't necessary mean he is. As they're a cluster of 11 year olds its more likely they're throwing the word around.

It's a real shame that this kid has been subject to this sort of bullying, it'll hopefully send a shockwave in his school and get teachers to clamp down on it.

    Untrue.

Now people will ostracize him - at first they may be legitimately scared of him but once they see that it's having a negative effect on him, they'll use it to humiliate him and mock him.

    Been there, done that.

(No, I never brought a weapon of any kind to school)

I knew way before age 11. I was desperately praying the gay away at age 11, even as my best friend and I would mess around during sleepovers. I know A LOT of guys with similar experiences...

Maybe you were a late bloomer and/or more isolated as a child???

I knew I liked girls way before 11. Boys came around 11 or 12, and it hit like the metaphorical falling piano.

If you read the article it says the police and the school didn't have a report of bullying as there was no written documentation. Somehow the media is going to turn around and say the bullies are the victims here. People need to remember this a child who brought a knife to school because he was afraid, not because he wanted to hurt people for no reason.

Idk why people are surprised. There's a reason parents don't let boys and girls have sleepovers together at age 11, and it's because they will mess around without parental guidance.

    You and me both haha
Definitely wasn't isolated as a kid. I was the most curious kid ever. But I was also shy.

It's nice to see kids today kickin it old skool with a good old fashioned bludgeoning. Nowadays it's all assault rifle this and semi-automatic that.

I saw Coco Peru live, and she told a funny story about being bullied when she was a little boy.

He used to love this knit hat his mother made for him, it had a big red pompom on top. Well, the other kids would tease him and snatch the hat from his head, grabbing it by the pompom. So he stopped wearing it.

When his mom asked why he stopped wearing it, he told her. His mother said, "Come with me" and brought him into her sewing room with his hat. She took her pin cushion, and sewed a few down straight pins into the pompom, all sticking out of the center but hidden by the yarn.

After a few kids tried to grab his hat, they left it alone.
