So I just got back to working out regularly since I got really sick and lost a bunch of weight, muscle and strength. So much so that I am only curling around 20 lbs and I used to curl about 70lbs. So I am basically working my way up as if I was starting from the beginning. So my question is, do I continue working up strength by doing circuit like training (whole body or upper body at once or split every other day with 3 sets but just one exercise for each part at 10 reps max) or return to what I used to do with 3sets 3 exercises with 2 body parts every other day? With doing that I would of course keep with the 10 reps with the weights around 10-15lbs depending on the body part being worked.

I would assume with the weights and the exercises for each body part I am doing (which is 1) I am doing that it would be hard or harder to overtrain than doing 3 exercises for each body part once a week

Your muscles will come back quickly if it was just a short break. Just train like you used to.

Same here dude... I caught the flu a few weeks ago, and did not work out for 2 weeks. I went back to the gym this past Monday for the first time, I had to lighten my squats by 20 pounds.

It took me months to add those 20 freaking pounds!!! An i lost them in 2 weeks!!! >.

At first I hoped this thread was about IQ.

Then I read the OP and realized it isn't. icon_sad.gif
