I'm going to Chicago to celebrate my 30th birthday in a few months.

Any suggestions, especially from those of you who live in the city?

I've been to Chicago a few times before, so I've done most of the tourist sites -- Navy Pier, Millennium Park the museums, the Art Institute, all were great.

I'm looking for something really fun, some great restaurants (I love Italian food), and some great bars.

Also a great coffee shop that's not Starbucks or Caribou Coffee.

Hit me up with any suggestions via the boards or email.

I was in Chicago for the Games, and I have to say, Sidetraxx is a fun bar. Not sure what the locals think, but it tends to have a lot of people and the frozen purple drinks are tasty! Happy Birthday.

Just walk up and down broadway and you will find various other Thai, sushi resturants, coffe and tea shops. Also try the Andersonville neighborhood, there is a great theme resturant there called Hamburger Marys located at Balmoral and Clark, great food and when your finished with dinner go upstairs to Mary's attic for drinks, lot's of eye candy.

All cities are pretty cool in the spring/summer months...but Chicago has something special about it when the weather is nice. It's a huge city that has miles of beaches right on the city's edge. The Lake path is one of the most amazing urban designs I've ever seen. You can literally feel as if you are on vacation even if you live here just by riding a bike up and down the lake. There are cafes, golf courses, acrobatic lessons, theaters, movies, a gay beach (I avoid), world-class volleyball, etc. right on the lake with a clear view of the most modern, beautiful skyline on earth. I would also reccommend a River tour that gets you deep into the heart of downtown Chicago. You will see 100 years of the evolution of the skyscraper. It is amazing.

Be sure to hit Sidetrack on Sunday afternoon ( around 4) for showtunes. Its realy fun. I used to live in Milwaulee, and would go to Chicago all the time. There is so much to see and do. Get a deep dish pizza at Unos, or Ginos East. Lots of fun bars all along Halstead! Have Fun!!

Thanks for all the responses. I'm making a list for my trip. I've been before and we usually go to Halstead and hit the bars a few nights. It's fun to hang out with friends and check out all the guys.

I defintiely want to check out the Frank Lloyd Wright house....I missed that on the last visit.
