"Our journey is not complete until our gay brothers and sisters are treated like anyone else under the law – for if we are truly created equal, then surely the love we commit to one another must be equal as well."

Are you contrasting me with the Conservaposse, or lumping me in with them? I realize someone an RJ member for only 3 days might not yet know the participants very well. Or are you a returning member?

Heard of those plants. Now I see. Are you gay, male, liberal, or Democratic, Singa?

I dunno, insufficient data. But always curious when a brand new member demonstrates prior knowledge of RJ.

As for the OP question here, certainly a landmark to have gay rights mentioned favorably for the first time ever in an inaugural address. I think we can all guess how gay rights would have been portrayed in a different way had it been Romney giving this speech today.

I am just very curious about you that is all. Hope I do not offend you but there is a lot of controversy and rumour about you that's all.

This was the most pro-gay Inaugural speech in history.
Obama is not just promoting our rights, he is "mainstreaming" progressive values, which include marriage equality for gay Americans.
The more mainstream and "normal" gay equality is perceived as, the more difficult it will be for conservatives to oppress us and support legislation that harms us, as Romney pledged to.

Huge win for all Americans who believe in equality, huge loss for conservative bigots.

Pretty sure he mentioned it in his last speech, or sometime prior to being elected the first time.

He touched on the subject lightly, but didn't make it a priority. Now it's become mainstream enough that he can start making headway with it, and mention it as a substantial part of his agenda for the next four years.

An inauguration address goes into history to be quoted over and over ... he also metioned Stonewall

Kudos to you Mr. President ... I am most certainly in gratitude to you for doing so ... God Bless Our President!

And huge loss for the RJ Conservaposse. Should we name them? I notice them crawling out from under their rocks lately, since November, and trying to start their Right Wing crap all over again.

This inaugural address should remind us all what liars they are, what gay traitors (if they really are gay at all), what bigotry they would have us support. Can we just agree to slam these phonies down, each time they show their ugly anti-gay heads?
