The guy who tried to censor all video games and 'obscenities' in rap music is finally getting disbarred. icon_biggrin.gif

This was the guy who was very vocal against GTA: Vice City and tried to sue Mortal Kombat because he claims that one of the characters looked like him. ROFL

The referee's report isn't included here, so the Supreme Court's decision mentions only generalized offenses, not the specifics in the report. Not sure if his disbarment is related to his rap music opposition, but it appears his legal conduct over a wide range of activities was egregious.

Indeed, but he has repeatedly used his status as an attorney to harass a lot of people. Especially those he perceived as having wronged him. That's classic megalomania right there.

And though yeah, Tyler, I too don't like rap. But banning it just because you don't like it? Where's freedom in that? And if I may say so, it's very hard to find music or literature that don't depict sex or violence. Even before the advent of rap or video games. Thompson once went so far as to sue a radio station for playing 'suggestive' music. WTF is up with that? He's Christian and a conservative and he goes around trying to suppress other people's freedoms. I say disbarment is the least they can do.

A Christian fundamentalist attorney retained by Oliver North's Freedom Alliance, Thompson began his operation as a one-person crusade. His chief targets are homosexuality, African American culture, and rap music. He is best known for having precipitated the prosecution of 2 Live Crew in Broward County, Florida, and for waging an international campaign against the rap group NWA. In the summer and fall of 1992, he led the charge against Time Warner and Ice-T. When the Boston Coalition for Freedom of Expression defended the Boston-based rap group Almighty RSO against attacks by pro-censorship forces abetted by Freedom Alliance, Thompson fired off faxes describing the BCFE as a group of "left-wing extremists."

OIC, TY for the info. Reminds me of the disbarment of Roy Cohn in "Angels in America." I wonder if he's a closeted gay like Cohn was?
