Most of the gay activity is in Midtown.

Joe's on Juniper seemed like it was a hoping place.

Thanks. I'm open to non-gay places too especially if its full of carbs and beer.

I visit Atlanta often, and I usually eat at the following places:

Joe's on Juniper - Bar-like pub that is known for its wings

Einstein's - more upscale, unique menu options and cocktails (right next to Joe's)

Roxx Food and Spirits - Awesome American food

    Hudson Grille - A burger-type of tavern

South City Kitchen - super-swanky place with really awesome food

Front Page News - pretty good dishes with a New Orleans-type flair

Christopher J's - I just ate there this weekend...excellent brunch

Marlowe's Tavern -standard food, but good.

All of these places are in Midtown, so if you're staying at the Renaissance, W Hotel, or the new Hilton, most of these places are no more than ten minutes away. Joe's and Einstein's are actually a five minute walk from the W Hotel. The last two, Christopher J's and Marlowe's are like a two-minute walk from the Renaissance.

    I hope this helps!

What do you do in Atlanta after you finish up your business side of things? Get the fuck out before you die.

Hotlanta being only 4 hours away from me, I've gone there more than I can remember. More than I can remember I have seen fights break out. Don't even get me started on Underground. Sure I still go every now and again, but in and out. No need to optimize the risk.

CHEESECAKE FACTORY! Unless you have one in your hometown, then it's not as cool...

I like Hudson Grille on Peachtree. I always manage to get into a good conversation with other patrons when I go there.

I think they closed the Underground, which was far overdue.

But stay out of the hood, and you'll be fine. Plenty of fun to be had in ATL.

Sorry, but if the Atlanta underground is on your travel itinerary, you sort of get what you deserve.

Not really a hole in the wall. They're almost world-famous(even mentioned in the movie "Up in the Air"), on a busy street and you can see the signs advertising it almost a mile away. Still, it's pretty good. Probably the best Memphis-style bar-b-que you can get in Atlanta.

Only go to Joe's if you don't care about the quality of the food and just want to be surrounded by homosexual men.

Hmmm...it hasn't been bad when I've gone. I stick to the wings, and the waiter actually made the cooks redo our wings because they weren't up to standard. The current owner actually came up to us and apologized about the whole thing, which was a surprise. However, wings are the only thing I've eaten there, so I can't speak for the rest of the menu.

I don't pay too much attention to the patrons, but I'm sure it has the same mix of people that any other place in Midtown does. Trust me, I definitely don't go there just for the sake of being surrounded by homosexual men...I don't think that's any kind of reason to go to any place.

I hope that you have a better experience in the future, but in the meantime, I think it's a good recommendation for the OP.

Everyone named all the good places already. Little 5 Points area spots like Vortex will work if you're not bringing a stuffy crowd with you.
