As you informed gamers (or is it gaymers?) know, the white-haired Dante we all know and love has been replace by the new guy (Donte, Deeno, whatever you guys wanna call him). What do you guys think of the reboot? Was it necessary? Could they have done something better? Should they left it the way it was? Share your opinions! You won't get burned I swear lol

Am I detecting some trolling? The DmC reboot was fine! Ninja Theory is a perfectly capable studio, especially when you consider the kind of products Capcom has been releasing as of late.

I have been reading some reviews and many people think the new Dante does not compare to old Dante...thus the whole Dino, Donte idiot naming.
The game has some glitches, as most current games tend to have. The story is decent, nothing spectacular (past DMC games had about the same level) new Dante is way sexier than old Dante.

I felt it was overdue for a reboot. I had fun playing DMC3, but when I finished the game... I was finished. When DMC4 came out, I really didn't care. I might eventually buy it on the cheap and play through it to say I did. I just did not have the NEED to play DMC4 though. I am now intrigued by the DMC reset. (IT BETTER BE GOOD!) icon_twisted.gif

It's a spin off of Dmc in another dimension that's why Dantes aesthetics are different. People need to stop complaining.

I'm not trolling good sir. I'm merely asking others if they think it was a good idea. For me, it was both good and bad. They made story an actual element (sort of) so it makes it more interesting to pay attention to. The atmosphere is fantastic.

On the other hand, Dante is portrayed as being a bit of a deuce to start, rather than being portrayed as a badass, like what was done in most other games. Vergil is...meh. Nothing special. And after I was finished with the game, I was like"Wait...That's it?" The bosses weren't that interesting (especially the last one). I was sitting there thinking "Really? That's the best they can come up with?" I just found the other DMC games to be more fun to play to far.

Again, this is all imo. It's too early to judge the new direction they're taking, I'm willing to see what else they got up their sleeves, and I could possibly be acting a bit jaded.

I have yet to play the game yet but I really want to give it a try. As much as I like the original white haired Dante, I'm willing to give this new one a try. His new look has kind of grown on me. I may prefer the old version way more but this one isn't so bad look-wise. I'll decide about him once I see his personality for myself. icon_smile.gif

I downloaded the demo a while back. Gameplay is good but I really didn't like the Dante character, very annoying. Also lots of cringe worthy cursing that doesn't add anything to the game.

On the other hand the graphics are gorgeous.

Lacks the polish that DMC 3 and 4 had. Not as smart ass of Dante, less charasmatic. Gameplay feels more shallow .. the combos are not set up for variety like before, just set up to button mash in different weapons. Doesn't live up to the legend. Graphics suck too.

Didn't like the new Dante at first. Part fanboy of me/part the fact that I remember him being more polished in the earlier ideas of him. But I like him a lot more now, a bit more trashy and naughty icon_biggrin.gif

Since the new Dante looks a lot like my boyfriend I'm loving it.
The old white haired one looked like a wimp girl.
Androgynous men disgusts me (in video games)

Personally I like the look of this Dante a whole lot better than the original versions, but that's all I can say since I haven't actually played any DMC games, just stared at the characters haha.

I like his demeanor a bit more now "naughty and trashy" hehe good call. I also am not a fan of the white hair...Spoiler

His power grows and his black, beautiful hair starts turning white towards the end of the game, then full on white...looks stupid.

I know right? The combat feels so simplified to the point where it's borderline brain-dead. The biggest challenge I had was figuring out that some weapons don't work too well against certain demons. Other then that, the enemies posed almost no threat!

It feels like all of the other 3D action games that get praised to high-heaven. I don't get all negativity surrounding it....

At first I was skeptical of the whole reboot thing. He used to be a badass, now he just seemed like an ass. But after playing it, I like it.

I admit that I didn't get into the series till late into its run. The HD remake helped, but I find that the new series held my interest more than the remake.

Its always possible to make a better game, but the bigger the target audience, the more you have to put in the game, which means you have less and less to work with. I think this game was a great game for everyone to get into, but it still had alot of the features for hardcore gamers.

They could have left it the way it was, but the storyline was not ideal. Yes they could have worked around it, but starting over is something that some companies find easier.

Unfortunately, I still haven't played all the old games, but I think this game is not only a great reboot, but it could be a great addition to the series.
