Possible key development in AIDS fight

    Very cool approach. While it does obviate the need for chronic medication, such a procedure would still require expensive gene therapy - and with the HIV virus's ability to mutate, it is still possible (though unlikely) that it could eventually overcome the resistant T-cells.

    Still, for those people suffering with drug-therapy side-effects, this research holds promise for a stronger, healthier life.

    Yeah, this research is promising, but it is experimental. But it could be another tack in a multi-faceted approach to combatting a rapidly mutating virus such as HIV.

    I saw something a couple of weeks back where two south African woman had antibodies for like 80 different strains of HIV. They were going to use that to develop a vaccine. I think that would be more beneficial than say this gene therapy. This is just going to be too expensive and abrasive, in my opinion.
