Bet you didn’t know that goat cheese makes great kindling, did you? A truck carrying 60,000 pounds of the soft cheese caught fire in a tunnel in Norway last week, and the flames lasted five days. The truck driver told reporters that he was about 1,000 feet into the tunnel when he noticed that his cargo of dark goat cheese had ignited. Officials think the high sugar and fat content in the cheese, coupled with its arrangement on the truck, caused a huge spike in its temperature and led to the fire. The director of Norwegian Public Roads Administration said, “I didn’t know brown cheese burns so well.” Neither did we.
