With the recent resignation of the Premier of Ontario, the currently-governing Liberal Party of Ontario has held a leadership convention. Openly-lesbian Kathleen Wynne, a Member of Provincial Parliament since 2003, has been selected as party leader and is now Premier-designate of Canada's most populous province.

Oh my! Next thing you know, they'll start allowing the gays in the military and then marriage. First government, and then the rest will follow!

FYI, Canada has long allowed gay marriage. I'm not sure about the military though. Any ways, I'm really happy because I'm from Toronto (Ontario).

Equal in every way under the Constitution and Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Legalization of gays in the military happened in the mid 1990's.

    WHO THE FUCK ARE YOU?

Seriously, dude, you have been on RJ for over 2 years and only have 30 posts, so you can't REALLY care about the forums that much. Go back to the beach and sun-bleach your brain some more. icon_rolleyes.gif

First openly gay premier? cool. Now the focus should instantly shift to what her new policies will be to try and fix the damage her party has done to Ontario already (have a feeling nothing much is going to change until the next election).

Well, at least she is conciliatory and willing to reach out to other political parties, unlike her main rival. That's kinda important in minority parliaments.

Socialist? Hahahahaha. The rest of the world laughs when people drink the Faux News koolaid and claim Obama is an actual socialist.

Your Country would be in a lot worse shape under Romney... He was among the greedy lot that created (and directly profited from) the mess in the first place. icon_rolleyes.gif

Debt almost a large as California's, failed green energy plan, rising hydro costs, scandals, continued ailing health care system, and within their parties rule has turned ontario into a "have not province" receiving equalization payments from other provinces....reaching out and LISTENING to other parties are two very different things. Here's hoping for an opposition majority in the next election.

Gays aren't allowed in the military, in Canada?

    What's a Premier? Like a mayor?

Awesome! Glad it all continues... eventually we will have a US candidate as VP or Pres who is gay... the more positive reinforcement the better!

    He was making a joke, may11. icon_wink.gif

Gays are 100% equal up here and have been for a number of years.
    Military acceptance 1992. Marriage 2004.

A Premier is like a State Governor. Prime Minister is like a President.
