Anyone planning on attending Comic-Con in San Diego this summer? Or heading to another similar event in the country this year?

Have you been before? What are your best memories if you've been before?

This will be my 5th year going to San Diego Comic-Con, and I can't wait... but if I had all the money in the world, I'd also love to go to the Doctor Who events in the UK to celebrate the 50th Anniversary year this year. Would love to hear from others out there who share these geeky passions. Thanks!

I have always wanted to go to a con. Never have. I'd want to go all out though and do an epic cosplay. I need geek friends to go with me haha

I'm geeky enough to entertain myself without giving a fuck about how entertained other people are from watching me entertain myself.

I am not really a geek, but have gone to Con the last four years. I love going to the movie preview hall and seeing the previews and hearing the actors tells stories about the filming. Like the people watching, no better event to people watch at. Fun time. Biggest deal-standing a couple of feet from Angelina Jolie

I went a few years in the late 90s/early 00's. Back then I had media passes and vendor passes that got me in for free. I haven't been back since I lost those free privileges, but it was fun to go when I had the chance. Now, it's a bigger madhouse, so I tend to stay safely 1.5 miles away at home. icon_smile.gif

That is the thing with me. No one I know is interested enough to go with me. I don't mind going alone but don't like it. More people more fun. Oh well.

I've never been to Comic-con, but I do spend 5 days at EuroFurence every year. Biggest Furry convention in Europe.(still very small compared to the likes of comic con though) It's awesome and it's extremely gay friendly. I reckon over 50% of people there are gay or bi, no kidding. And with 1300 people it's just one big party!

Comic cons are always great...my dream is to go the big one in San Diego some day

unfortunately the lines to meet the stars suck, tough to wait an hour to pay $75 bucks for a picture

went to Philly wizard world and got to meet a few of the stars from Spartacus including Craig Parker

I would LOVE to go to Comic-Con and dress up. But I am too chicken shit to do it by myself. icon_redface.gif (and I live in the shadow of NYC)

I'm still not sure what I'd go as. I'd take my own frame and look into consideration though so I wouldn't go as like Superman or Hawkman. icon_razz.gif

I don't like being the center of attention either but with so many other people there who are also dressing up, if I went and didn't I feel like I'd missed out on a big part of the experience of going to one of these nerd conventions.

And these days you can get away in casual dress...icon_wink.gif

actually, it's better to go alone the first time! I found my first year I was so overwhelmed that I made sure I kept my primary plan for panels and stuff, but then I wandered off on the trade floor for hours! it takes days to go see everything you want! and with the panels, they'll be like 3-4 you want to see simultaneously, but wouldn't be able to get into because of lines, or the room is too full. So you have to plan multiple panels for each day...

I've only ever been to the Syracuse comic-con, but I met Ethan Van Scriver and got a great sketch of Apollo.
