Tell us what you love about Gay Pride. What are your favorite memories of Pride? Have you met anyone special there? Have you ever been IN a parade??

I met my bf at Twin Cities Pride, which is one of the biggest Pride's in the country, and we've been together 8 years.

All year long gay people are too scared to hold hands in public. For one weekend a year we hold each other's hands in the street and celebrate unity. It's a beautiful thing for a people that face a lot of stigma.

My first pride was Toronto 2009!!!! We made it a road-trip from Ohio to visit a friend up there. We stayed in an awesome hotel right downtown on the street of the the parade route. It was great, diverse and let me see all of the different colours, shapes, sizes, identities, etc that we have in our community. Lots of hot guys in Canada too

Yeah, touched off by another thread from a well-meaning but quite hard-headed and misguided young guy.

Where the hell have YOU been? icon_wink.gif

By "admissions results" I assume you mean "lab test for varioius repulsive sexually transmitted diseases".

That is exactly what I mean, the admissions depends on how little of a slut I am so I have to prove that I dont have a VD.

My first gay pride was at age 51, I felt like I was finally free. It was very exciting to be a part of something where I felt like I was like everyone else and best of all, they were all very accepting of 'me'.

My first gay pride was when I was around 8. They were marching on the boulevard I live on and I went to see it with my family. My little cousin saw a beautiful girl on one of the floats and said "she looks like a princess. She's so beautiful". My mother immediatly said "she's a man". We were so shocked. haha

I usually go to Providence RI or NYC for pride. The last time I was in RI they had the organizers of the original Prov Pride marching in the parade, which I thought was pretty awesome. I felt connected to history.

My favorite memories are from being in the parade for the various sports clubs I've belonged to over the years. High point was doing aerobics/dance-choreographies while marching. All of us wearing specially made costumes and trying to keep up with the music and the choreography and the audience for several miles. Exhausting as hell, but so much fun.

I have so may wonderful happy memories of Mardi Gras, so many friends to catch up with, so many paople I hardly see day to day. All the smiles on the faces of usually gruff city queens.

    I love pride!!
The first time I was fresh out of the closet and couldn't dance to save my life, I was too scared.
A few years later I'm shirtless in angel wings..and got to dance on stage!!!
One of the smaller side street stages, but still. I had to wait for 3 hours and dance my ass off outside the gate while they chose who was going to go up, though I wouldn't even have the energy when they finally brought us on, but damn if all the weariness didn't fade once I was up there looking out at the sea of people, such a rush!!!

I have been to three pride events: Charlotte NC, Atlanta and San Francisco. Out of the 3, San Fran was my favorite. First of all, there were so many people and it was apparent when you experience the Castro street party. Secondly, the pride parade was televised just like the Tournament of Roses parade. In the South, pride parades only make the news. And third and my favorite part, was the diversity of people in San Fran. I met so many friendly people and in return, I made 2 new friends. That was truly a positive experience and one ill never forget.

My first pride was last year in Oklahoma City. Surprisingly enough, it was huge. thousands of people. the BF and I were part of about 8 military gay/lesbian couples who were the grand marshall's of the parade. it was awesome. Never in my dreams did I think I would be allowed to go to a pride event, let alone be in the front of the parade. awesome experience!

Having you march down the street in a speedo would be my favorite memory of gay pride. That is if I could ever encourage you to come to Buffalo for Pride which is the first weekend in June.icon_lol.gif

it was a great time -- i met a really cool lesbian couple from my base! we've stayed in touch since then.

i didn't even know what i was getting myself into. they said they were looking for military folks to be a part of it; so i said "sure"....then they wanted the BF....then they wanted a uniform lol!

i asked our legal office about it -- just finally said , "fuck it, I need clarification before I do anything" and they treated me with respect and gave me a solid answer without it turning into anything awkward.

the Gayly (the local newspaper) did an interview and everything abotu DADT coming to an end and all that stuff. everything was just awesome. I don't think it'll ever be better.
