We don't all have the same fitness goals, but we all face challenges in the pursuit of our goals. What is something you can't do today, but you're determined to be able to do someday?

I'm currently struggling with olympic full snatches because I have very little flexibility and balance when I attempt overhead squats. For me, it means yoga, targeted stretching, and patience. I will get there. I don't know how long, but that's not important. One day, fellow RJers, I will post that I've done it. And done it again. Heck, maybe even prove it with a video.

This video shows the progress a US veteran paratrooper made after suffering back and joint problems and gaining weight. Every day, RJ members are working out, getting better, and making a difference in their lives.

It doesn't matter where we start, only that we start and keep going.

"Just because I can't do it today, doesn't mean I'm not going to be able to do it someday."

I was once happy, reasonably fit and was practising a form of hatha yoga at a fairly advanced level. I had my body, my diet and also my mind more or less under control. That was probably over five years ago.

Since then, I have kept going at the level of bare minimum, and my ambition seems to have dried up, even though I know exactly what I would like to achieve and how to go about it.

Thirty-three years of age is too old to suffer from the ennui or inertia of a stressed teenager, but that is my challenge.

As I said, I know what I need to do, but I have fallen into poor habits, and I seem to be preoccupied with 'first world problems', which seem ridiculously indulgent. Where are my priorities? I know what I need to do, so what is stopping me? Just poor habits, and they can be changed.

When I was on top of things, my answer would have been, "I want to be enlightened, like Buddha or Jesus!", and I would have been quite sincere, and would have believed that it would be entirely possible to achieve this within my lifetime.

To recover that sort of ambition would be just wonderful. icon_smile.gif

I can't pay for my own insurance, yet, but in time I will; and then I'll be able to afford my epileptic medicine, and other necessities to keep me from sliding into a delusional world of my own fabrication.
Fitness goals, I want to be physically between a stud and muscle bull. Especially as I get into my mid 40's. That would be Ideal. I wanna out run, lift, and endure the physical limits I'm able to reach now by the time I'm 45. Oh, and crack walnuts between my butt cheeks! icon_mad.gif

As destiny's child would say bills bills bills, currently money woes.

Fitness wise, also struggling alittle. I hurt my knee back in October from doing too much speed work on a treadmill over the past year. My left quad is apparently too tight and it's causing knee pain--but I've been going to physical therapy and it's getting better. It's frustrating not being able to run, it was alot easier managing my weight and honestly i was more happier doing it then i am now with my routine. Now it just feels like grunt work--I do the stairmaster for 99 minutes, and some aerobics, my body's lean but squishy in some places, and my face is too full--blah.

Also cinnamon babka bread I cannot quit you.

I loved Olympic lifting, full snatches and clean and jerk.
But do you have someone to teach you ?
I don't think you can learn to do it right just on your own.

I used to be able to do back flips and somersaults. It would be nice to do those again, but I'm too old and my body is no longer thin and light like a teenage asian. It's now athletic and not as flexible.

Getting the turnsignals and stoplights to work properly on my '61. That's priority #1 for this upcoming car show season....

Getting another 40 hp or so from porting intake and heads on the 63 before drag racing season starts.

My immediate challenge is to slow down and then eliminate the excess coffee drinking. It interferes with digestion and sleep; the two fundamentals.

I am planning for a day or two of headaches, during which I must resist all temptation to brew one up.
