I've been training for about a month for a half marathon in Spring 2009....I'm up to 6 miles a days 5 days a week. Is that too much and/or what is a better way to train? Thanks guys!

Congrats guys! That would be an amazing experience to run the Marine Corps.

I'm running the Long Beach Marathon on Sunday October 12, then a local (Colorado) half the 1st of November. If all goes well ::fingers crossed:: Boston in April!

Anybody run relays? I'm doing the 183 miler from San Antonio to Austin the end of this month. Did the NW Passages from the Canadian border to Whidbey island last year, and the Nike+ 10K in Portland Labor Day plus the Key Bank 10K in Tacoma the week after. Looking for a 1/2 marathon in November...

I pay homage to you SMALLTOWN, I can only manage a marathon two months apart.

Ran the Koala Houston Half Marathon on Sunday....

13.1 miles in 1:43:54.4. 7.50 pace. That barely keeps me in the Top 15% of the runners to finish.

    Finished 313 of 2076 Finishers = Top 15% ...

42 of 175 in my age group = Top 24%

My overall time was 2.49 minutes SLOWER than last year! D'oh!

My only excuse was I was running a temperature and sick all of last week and had only about three days to sorta recover...this result doesn't give me a lot of confidence going in to San Antonio for a full marathon in 3 weeks.

Finally a topic regarding fitness in a fitness forum.... I am dying to do a marathon. Unfortunately marathon is held rarely where I live. My tight schedule mean I just cant go to other town to do a marathon often.
But I do hope some opportunity will arrive soon. I never do any half or full marathon. But I done a lot of quarter marathon and 10k.

good luck in your training and racing---you are obviously a serious runner! I'm somewhat sidelined with an ankle injury (only running 25 miles a week at present) but I hope to be back to my usual 40 miles a week soon. My last half-marathon resulted in a 1:36 time.

    Thank you!

That's a great time! I've always been a good runner, but never great....I typically stay in the top 25%, but I'll never get anywhere near elite.....like everything else I've done in my life, I'm never great at anything, but usually pretty good at it.icon_biggrin.gif

I have alot of my race photos here if you're interested:

two months ago I was doing 1:00:12

    Do you think that's good?

I feel great, about 5 years ago, doctor said I probably wasn't going to be doing things like that, I shut them up.icon_twisted.gif
