If you don't mind being my target practice, I'll volunteer. I'm practicing to be the next Katniss Everdeen.

We envy our friends who arranged for their legal New Hampshire gay marriage to be on Valentine's Day. I think that's so sweet. And none of their friends can ever forget the date. icon_biggrin.gif

We're taking a Valentine's Day Caribbean cruise, or so it's billed, the dates actually missing the 14th by a few. There was another thread here about the pros & cons of celebrating V-Day. Is it crass, artificial & commercial, as some contend, or a convenient opportunity to demonstrate the love you already have for someone?

I go for any opportunity to show my husband my love for him, even if I have to use a clichéd faux holiday to do it. The downside is the guys who don't have someone with whom to enjoy V-Day, it reminds them of their lack. The same I guess is true of a lonely Christmas, and an empty US Thanksgiving table.

Well, I do sympathize, but I can't let that limit my own happiness. What I can suggest is to use these holidays as an incentive to remedy the loneliness.

Assuming most people don't enjoy being alone. And if they do, well then they shouldn't be complaining about Valentine's Day in the first place, now should they? icon_wink.gif

Super smart idea. If I was going to get married, I'd do it ON TOP of another holiday or birthday. That way, I don't have to remember an Additional important date. I barely remember my own birthdays. Good tip.

Ha...I arbitrarily chose December 7th, as we both had differing opinions to when the relationship had actually started and it's a day that will live in infamy.

    Looks yummy.

I'd suggest roasting and serving it on a bed of onions and portobello mushrooms.
