I agree....it really is taking a step backwards. I think they should be forced to post cops in all Labor and Delivery rooms and arrest each newborn as they're born. How dare they enter our world all naked like that.

It amazes me how much liberal we think we are yet we restrict people from using their body to express themeslves.

    How is it okay?

It's vulgar. There's no reason for it.

    1. It's unappealing

    2. There are certainly bodily functions that nobody should have to be involuntarily subjected to witnessing. Some dude getting an erection in public or some chick getting her period...these are not things that need to be witnessed by the general public.

    3. Some mother fuckers smell, clothes conceal it somewhat.

    4. Do you want to go sit on a chair that some random person has had their funky genitalia (that has been God knows where) all over?

This. Most of the time the folks who are naked aren't any kind of porn star turn on (unless you dig fringe porn)

Makes it a whole lot easier for naked old men to rape naked little children.
Unless you want to go'head and put an age limit on public nudity... And put blind folds on those who are too young?

It's just a messy situation. Be naked at home, be naked on a nude beach, be naked anywhere else that it's permitted. If you want to take a bus to the store, where it's crowded, and the AC isn't working, and your ass is sweaty, and no one wants to sit with you, or smell you, or touch you- Do it, be an inconsiderate bastard.

You're simply reacting to the way you were raised and nothing more. If you had been raised in a nudest colony, you'd be screaming about how awful you thought clothing was.

It's usually the people you don't want to see naked ARE Naked, and the people you do want to see naked have nice clothes on. It's rather foggy and cold in San Francisco, how can they be naked all the time?

There's always Baker, Fort Funston? Beach in the north side, go there and be naked. It's a nudist area.

I am a little shy when it comes to public nudity, the most I can do is walk around half-naked showing my jean/undie waist band, listening to my music, even then I'm self-conscious !!! icon_eek.gif

Back in the day... this guy, "the naked guy" (Andrew Martinez), was a student at UC Berkeley. He stopped wearing clothes. He was right behind me one time as I was getting a burrito. He had a nice body and I thought, fuck, if I looked like that, I'd go naked too! Unfortunately most people walking around don't look so 'hot' naked (IMO).

There's a reason genealia covering at the least is a near cultural universal.

There's a difference between hygiene and body acceptance. Most nudist retreats and colonies have hygiene rules about placing a towel down, etc.

Having clothes on is most often a good practice. It makes hygiene easier (no need to carry a towel), and it keeps you warm/protects you from the elements.

But I think the message that these 4 people are spreading is an important one. We are all human, we all have genitals, and we all use those genitals all the time for many different things.

When I see someone walking nude in public (like I did in the castro) I don't experience one emotion/feeling. I experience several. If they are hot, I'm aroused. If they are not hot, I am probably avoidant. If they have growths or marks, or saggy leather flesh, I'm probably intrigued. If they are minding their own business, I would probably mind my own. If they were obviously looking for attention, I might smile and make a sassy comment. I also might feel jealous that I don't have their courage, yet grossed out if their dirty bits were too close to me.

These 4 protestors fail to recognize the collective consciousness and the rules it has made about public nuditity... well actually they do recognize them, and they want them to change.

Lol, I used to work in downtown S.F. whenever I walk back on Market st to take the Montgomery Bart back to the house, it smells and reeks of Pee on the sidewalk. I swear I saw 3 guys peeing in the middle of the day in the Mission on 16th/Valencia once, too. (Welcome to San Francisco!) icon_lol.gif

Right. But just because aversion of public nudity is a social construction doesn't make feelings of uncomfortableness or disgust any less real. The advocacy, then, to shove nudity into people's faces is questionable.

    Agreed. HIS is!

The extreme majority of humans are not. Thankfully there are clothes.

The police would be too busy with the groping charges and child molestations to do anything else. And to think this would not happen, is denial.
