I wonder what people expected when they decided that this legislation should be regulated by the IRS.

    http://cnsnews.com/news/article/irs-cheapest-obamacare-plan-will-be-20000-family

In a final regulation issued Wednesday, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) assumed that under Obamacare the cheapest health insurance plan available in 2016 for a family will cost $20,000 for the year.

Under Obamacare, Americans will be required to buy health insurance or pay a penalty to the IRS.

The IRS's assumption that the cheapest plan for a family will cost $20,000 per year is found in examples the IRS gives to help people understand how to calculate the penalty they will need to pay the government if they do not buy a mandated health plan.

The examples point to families of four and families of five, both of which the IRS expects in its assumptions to pay a minimum of $20,000 per year for a bronze plan.

“The annual national average bronze plan premium for a family of 5 (2 adults, 3 children) is $20,000,” the regulation says.

Bronze will be the lowest tier health-insurance plan available under Obamacare--after Silver, Gold, and Platinum. Under the law, the penalty for not buying health insurance is supposed to be capped at either the annual average Bronze premium, 2.5 percent of taxable income, or $2,085.00 per family in 2016.

In the new final rules published Wednesday, IRS set in law the rules for implementing the penalty Americans must pay if they fail to obey Obamacare's mandate to buy insurance.

I really fail to see the outrage in this, other than the convoluted math (which we already do with today's tax laws). It's an example, with rounded numbers for simplicity's sake.
If you want to be outraged, you should also be outraged that it states that the individual national bronze plan premiums is going to be $5000 in 2016. As of 2012 it's $5615. (For families it's $15980) Again, they're just using the number as an example. Nobody knows what level it's going to be set at.

All of the outrage is coming from the hyperbolic right-wingers who link to articles from ultra partisan 'news' outlets like CNS News which is founded by gay haters like Brent Bozell. There is no 'wonder' about this legislation. People that hate Obama hate the legislation. Period. Most Obama supporters see this as a compromise with fucktards. Not ideal but hey - that's democracy.

Families that can't legitimately can't afford $20K/year for health care qualify for other health programs. They will be condemned by the right no matter what they do.

    This is not factual:

"The examples point to families of four and families of five, both of which the IRS expects in its assumptions to pay a minimum of $20,000 per year for a bronze plan."

It uses $20000 as an example. It most likely will be anything but $20000. Nothing in real life is a round number.

Is there anything factually incorrect about what was cited from the article in the OP?

Or did you post your dig at CNS News because you are a hater of anyone and any organization that isn't in political agreement with my President?

q1w2e3 said he failed to see the outrage in the information in the article. I replied by stating that the people outraged by this information were likely to be zealous right-wingers who link to articles on CNS News. I'm still pretty comfortable with that statement.

My post dug at CNS News because it's founded by Brent Bozell who stands against LGBT equality and promotes hatred toward people like myself. Fuck him. Linking to that site is like linking to a KKK newsgroup on the NAACP message boards.

We have universal healthcare - the BC gov't (right wing) just upped the monthly fee for it. We pay $1446.00 per year for a couple. Singles are now $798.00 a year.

Guess what? The right wing gov't here loves to cut back on services along with budget handwringing crocie tears, lol. (bear in mind the plan is already funded by the federal gov't via our taxes, lol)

A family of three or more (yes this means even with 10 kids) pays 1596.00

So as you can see the smaller families subsidize the larger ones. icon_wink.gif

    I don't doubt it.

My little brother at age 56 pays $1,670 per month for family of 4 and he thinks he's getting the best deal he could find.

LOL. If your little brother is 56 and pays $1670/month then you are probably old enough to qualify for Medicare and Medicaid.

Try bitching when you pay real insurance premiums.
