    My suggestions:

Oxygen in the Short North on North High Street; I was a member for about three years and really enjoyed it. It's more of a "boutique" gym in that it's rather small but it has all of the equipment you need to workout.

Urban Active/L.A. Fitness in Grandview Heights on Goodale Boulevard; MASSIVE with just about everything you could want. Supposedly, the customer service and staff are horrific. Also, a lot of gay men supposedly go here to workout and...

The downtown YMCA on West Long Street; huge building and gym with an indoor track, courts, and tons of equipment. There are some interesting characters outside the gym due to the fact that the YMCA does provide housing and shelter for the city's homeless.

Depends what you are actually wanting.....where you will be and what you want to spend.....Planet Fitness is like $10/month.....I am at Lifetime/Dublin and pay $75/month
LIFETIME FITNESS has 2, 24hr, 7 days/week one in Dublin and one in Easton, and then a few places around town that are former LifeStyle Gyms....Careful with the Urban Active gym chain, as they were recently bought out, and I have heard nothing but complaints. The PREMIER FITNESS in Dublin is nice....lots of upscale amenities. ...If you want a candy store more than a gym........the 2 main bath houses in town DO HAVE FULL GYMS.....I have friends that go just for the gym.....
Columbus is a big city and has lots of gyms...hell, you can get a membership at any of the hospitals for their gym facilities or go on OSU campus and join the RPAC or the ARC or any number of other gyms...... GREAT FACILITIES, but pricy if not a student or employee of OSU....
    Good Luck

My pick is Power Shack. No sales offices, good trainers that don't hog the gym and guys that are there to workout. It's not the place to go if you're looking for a "social club". L.A. fitness Grandview is the spot for that.

Our gyms are remarkably homo free except for LA Fitness at Grandview Yard and a few, very few, at Lifetime Dublin at Sawmill and 'Hard' road. There are also a few at Graceland LA Fitness so it all depends what you're looking for. However, the gayer the gym, the less friendly it is and with a palpable difference in attitude. I lived in LA for 30 years so I know attitude when I see it.

Lifetime at Easton is unpleasant because of the members and Dublin is getting that way because of a big change in demographics, but they are exceedingly nice gyms.

The Polaris LA Fitness at I-71 and Polaris Parkway is very very crowded during the after work hours at this time of the year, but also is a super friendly gym where we're all friends. Powell LA Fitness is also very friendly, but less crowded, and at Sawmill and Seldom Seen rd. Powell has a bit more of a milf and giga milf crowd during late mornings and noon, but after about 3:00 it's Liberty High school there and a really nice bunch of guys.

Urban Active before the buyout by LA Fitness was terrible with a F BBB rating, which is pretty hard to do. It's better now and most of the equipment is fixed. Most of the staff are friends of mine so I get along just fine with them.
