I think injury prevention should be integrated into any physical training plan.

On the long run, the time spend (some think wasted) for injury prevention give you a tenfold return on investment, because injuries takes a long time to heal, and not all of them can be recovered in full.

I was a competitive athlete, but was not gifted genetically so I started at the very bottom of the pack.
But I decided early on to train smart, and was stopped in my training out of injuries far less often than my opponents.
In the long run, I accumulated far more training time over years, allowing me to reach higher and higher in the pack, because no matter the genetic quality you start with, at the end of the day, hard work over long period of time pay.
