Who likes running in car exhaust?

You see them all the time, oblivious to traffic, inhaling fumes whilst smacking into pedestrians. Is the endorphin rush so much more limited on treadmills that running outdoors in traffic is worth it?

EDIT: I'm talking about urban areas, and along highways.

Car exhaust? It's orchard-prunning season here. The whole valley is full of smoke from brush fires. Inside and out. At least there's a little breeze to clear it out today.

I am not sure what you are getting out. Are you equating running outside with running in traffic? I prefer running outside. On a treadmill I feel like I am forcing to control myself, not allowing myself a full range of motion which is similar to machines over free weights. I feel much more free outside. And just because I choose to run outside doesn't mean I run in traffic. I prefer to run along the northbank riverwalk or running when there is very little traffic, early or late.

But to answer your question, do I like running in car exhaust, no, but it is not a requirement to running outside.
