Most U.S. gun makers have ramped up production to maximum capacity or are expected to reach maximum capacity by March 1, 2013. Of the major manufacturers, only Springfield Armory has additional capacity that is believed to be beyond anticipated demand. Ammunition.production has reached 1 billion cartridges per week. Overall production continues to increase with brass shops ramping up to fill demand from individuals and specialty makers such as Underwood, Corbon, and DoubleTap.

The world's largest handgun maker, Glock, also operates the most easily scaled handgun manufacturing operations. Its' facilities near Atlanta, Georgia can increase yearly output by a few hundreds of thousands per year. There are currently no shortages across the distribution network for Glock pistols.
