TerraFirma saidPoor, tortured man. Let's pray for him rather than bash the kid. He's torn up inside. We all know what that's like.
No, let's not pray for him. Nobody hears that prayer.
This is a slug in the chest to anyone who uses their ignorance about the universe to compel others to be guided by guilt. We must use that firepower whenever someone abuses us in the way that he has.
There's an either/or scenario here, both of which he's in violation of:
1) There is no God. Thus, guilting people to behave a certain way--and violating it himself--is misguided, delusional and harmful.
2) There is a God. Thus, telling people how God thinks (as if he knows), and using that implied authority to drive people's behavior through guilt is blasphemous. What irrational being would create a class of people whose sole existence should be subjected to self-inflicted torture? He'd be suggesting that God is an asshole, and if there is a God certainly God would take great offense to that.
