Donating Plasma

Well being the poor college student that I am, I've thought about donating plasma to scrape around some money. There is also a bio-life plasma center down the street from the campus.

Has anyone had experience with this? How much money do you usually get? What is the process like?

Isn't there some sort of guideline to the type of person that can donate?

I know when I give Blood, the red cross has a list of things like:

Can't have had same sex relations, No stds (ever I think). Are you eligable to give blood under those rules. It didn't stop me, but I no longer give due to that. Just curious.

Totally. If you are a man who has had sex with a man, you are permanently excluded from giving blood. It does not matter what your definition of "sex" is, either. So, meanwhile your buddies who have sex with countless sorority girls can give blood while you, even if you've only had one partner, can not.

I don't know about the centers where you are at, but here in Boise you can "earn" up to $300 your first month donating, and then $250 each successive month thereafter. The process typically takes around an hour (I think, I have never done it before) and is similar to donating blood.
