Hey what's up y'all? I'm almost done with my contract with verizon, and I'm looking for a new phone/provider to get. Let me know what phone/company I should or shouldn't get. Thanks!

I've had t-mobile forever and am very happy with them. I believe that they are about to be acquired by Sprint so it will just expand the network that much more. Good luck.

go to the websites of the providers, and see if they cover in your area, getting peoples reviews all around the world wont help if they are using a provider that is not covered in your area

    DO NOT GO WITH AT&T!!!!

I have tmobile at first I had a brick Sidekick3 and I thought Tmobile service sucked, however, I realized it was the phone that sucked!

I now own a crackberry and man do I love it! never loose connection and I read in an article that for blackberrys, tmobile has the best service and affordable.

I really want the iPhone but, Not until they loose their contract with AT&T

I think the iphone is way overrated. Not to mention way over priced... Sure it has some neat features and somewhat stylish. But I guess it does depend on mainly what you use for phone for. I for one, do a lot of texting so I wouldn't want an iphone. Not to mention the iphones can't recieve MMS (picture) messages. What is up with that?! I have a tracphone from the late nineties that could text message and recieve pictures. Not to mention it's from Apple which would be an entirelty other rant.... In my opinion Apple is as bad as verizon in the sense that they will do anything they can to make sure that you have to pay THEM to do anything with your device... Like wit hthe ipod, u have to use itunes?? With a standard verizon phone you can't add anything unless you buy it from verizon on get it now?! Which is exactly why I went with the Motorola Q because it runs windows mobile therefore I can easily put whatever I want on it, drag and drop music, videos, games, install a huge variety of programs that I find online, and more. All because it's windows mobile. Verizon has no control over it because it doesn't run their standard red verizon software like almost all of their phones do. As far as the other providers go I really don't know what to say but I had to put my two cents in about the iphone since it was mentioned... I have two friends that have them and they like them but like I said no picture messages and texting must suck. A friend of mine has the LG Dare which is very close to the iphone in several ways and I know texting on that thing is more work than it is useful. But if you never text then perhaps that'd be for you

I would get a basic phone from T-Mobile. I hear they have a phone that connects to wi-fi and so is free calls in wi-fi. And they give you a router for you home.

And then I'd get an mp3 player that can attach via bluetooth to your phone like a samsung p2
    but that is just me.

If your looking for something on the pda side or something
that is comparable to the iphone but without the expensive
plan and at&t's terrible service i would
recomend the new G1 from T-mobile.

Im not to familiar with t-mobile but il be switching over to them in december from sprint. (way to many problems with billing.)

The G1's OS (operating system) was developed by Google (my hero)
and its going to be open which means that you will be able to find tons of apps for it.

Also t-mobiles data plan will be cheaper then at&t's at 25 bucks for unlimited data and 400 txt msgs. It will be out in october.

T-Mobile is actually not too bad. I have the T Mobile Dash, it's this tiny little black box of a thing but works out for those who don't want to graduate to business man blackberrys but want a more "mature" look.

    I'd vote Helio icon_cool.gif

Owned by Virgin Mobil now so I don't know if services will change, but everything comes as a flat price package. Minutes, unlimited data usage, txt mssg's, online browsing, multimedia mssg's: all for a flat price.

The iPhone is ultimately the best phone available. No other phone can touch it in terms of OS design or usability. That said, it isn't perfect for everyone and has some problems. But if you are already utilizing the Google cloud for some stuff and especially if you use a Mac, it's second to none.

We've had AT&T for both of our phones for about 5 years. Dealing with them in terms of billing and services has been painless. I know that many people complain about their reception, but it's been totally acceptable for us in both Omaha and Austin. The performance of ANY carrier is going to be highly dependent on where you live.

I'd recommend checking out http://www.howardforums.com before making any move and asking the guys on that site what vendors provide the best coverage in your area.

I have had every carrier and I have to say AT&T has been the best for me. I have yet to experience a dropped call in my area. My corporate discount had me paying a lot less in monthly charges with Sprint but I literally had to leave the house and talk in the driveway to get any reception. It all depends where you live and the coverage in that area. Ive had the razr chrome v3xx and the calls are crystal clear.

I've been with TMobile for about 3/4 years and I JUST pre-ordered the New G1 and CANNOT wait for it (is it Oct 22nd yet???). I've had a CrackBerry the last couple of years and I LOVE it, however REALLY intrigued with Google and T-Mobile's partnership.
I had Sprint before and the service was good however their Customer Service was an ATROCITY!!!! HORRIBLE!!! Verizon's CS is good but their phones SUCK!!!! Cingular WAS good but now as AT&T, it's HORRIBLE!!!!! iPhone is cool and appeals to us gadget freaks, but not til it's offered with OTHER carriers!

I have to wait until dec 1 for my contract with sprint to end. Its
been like that marriage that would never end.

Definatly want to hear what you think about it once you get it.

thank you guys for all the input! i'm with verizon, and i have nothing to complain about except for their ugly phones and somewhat expensive plans. their reception and customer service are good, but they don't have minutes rollover like at&t.

and yeah, t-mobile sounds good to me. i really like the g1 phone coming this october! i'm also hoping that they'll have a blackberry bold sometimes soon, so we'll see.

for me, iPhone + at&t network hands down. Consider all the features iPhone brings including navigator, etc. and at&t has not doubt has wider in coverage than verizon esp. if you travel the world frequently.

    my 2 cents

I know Google is your hero, but don't worry, they'll find a way to make tons of money off the G1, and make you pay for it.

I absolutely, love my iPhone, i got one for myself for my birthday back in January, loved it. Lost it while on vacation in Vancouver (very unlike me to lose something!!!!)

came back and got myself the newer 3G iPhone. LOVE IT EVEN MORE!

I think its quite expensive for the plan (not the phone), but I started getting an approximate 15 dollar discount for working for the government.

My opinion, the iphone is my favorite phone I've ever had. It's been extremely useful, I actually look like a commercial sometimes.

Walking down the street and someone asks me if I know where a certain store is, look it up online and in less than a minute I have an answer and I have helped out a stranger!

Needed to find a pet store today that was right in the area of where I was, found it on the phone (GPS finds exactly where I am and shows me the nearest results, I was within 1 block of the pet store!).

e-mail, photos, even put porn on the phone including videos and pictures! great conversation for bars lol.

in addition, i can use it as an mp3 player, watch shows/movies on the train to work, or the bus or on the plane, play games look at photos I have stored on them etc...

I even use it to go online to check out Real Jock while taking breaks at work!

From what I gather it's not the best for business work like perhaps a blackberry, but it really is an amazing phone otherwise. Easy to use, great interface and works very smoothly.

    Go check it out!
