"Vancouver now holds the dubious title of most expensive city in North America to live in, ahead of New York and Los Angeles, according to rankings by The Economist."

I am not surprised that Vancouver is the most expensive city on the continent. I wouldn't be surprised if it ended up being the most expensive and sought after city in the Americas. I also would not be shocked if Toronto came in a very close second. Lets face reality, beautiful and exciting, diverse places come in expensive packages. That is life.

I was told, by a native of Van-town, that local property inflation started when Hong Kong was repatriated to the PRC in 97. Allot of big money didnt trust the 'special administration' Charter and jumped ship to fellow Commonwealth member Canada.

Vancouver is one of my favorite cities in N. America (Montreal being my #1). About 6 years ago my BF and I rented a time share for a month in Davie Village for about $900. We used it as a base to explore the city and travel around southwest BC. Loved it.

Asia's crowded, Europe's to old. Africa's way to hot and Canada's way to cold; I'm happy calling the worlds most livable cities home; albeit Canada is one of the most beautiful parts of America.
