Are poeple fuckin' kidding? They say she was a success last nite b/c she didn't fuck up! I guess in a way it was a success but not in the way everyone is carrying on...doesn't everyone realize that she didn't even answer the questions? Her answers to the questions did not relate to the question. She is still fucking retarded...no retards should be in the White House and that includes her retarded baby!

I think using language like "retards" is extremely offensive, and doubly so since one of her children has Down's syndrome. Such people experience dreadful prejudice in everyday life, but are full members of society and live full valid and dignified lives. Why rob them of that dignity by your offensive use of language?. Ms Palin lost the debate, but she is not a 'retard'.

I think you have previously complained about prejudice against bisexuals. You would do well to consider whether this is intellectually consistent with calling someone a 'retard'.

Oh yes... I'm an Obama supporter just to clarify that.

I agree with your comments about the developmentall disabled. But I'd like to add...Palin came off like a cold sarcastic robot spouting talking-points that had no real substance or anything to do with the questions, smiling and winking like she's got it all sealed up. She isn't even in office yet and she's already got that "I don't care what you think I'm doing things my way"-attitude. I thought it was disrespectful, embarrassing, and she has no business being a heartbeat away from the Presidency of the United States.

I didn't watch. According to a friend of mine:

    Biden won.

    Palin beat the point spread.

You nailed it. Although the Repubs here in RJ Land are going wild with joy. They had declared her the Second Coming even before the debate, despite her previous idiocies.

Now that she didn't melt down, thanks to an altered debate format and frantic last-minute briefings, they've declared her the winner and worthy to lead the country.

The most intriguing bit of illogic to me is the gay Repubs latching onto Biden's failure to enthusiastically support gay marriage. Obviously that was done for political reasons, to deny the Republicans their wedge issue against the Dems. First ya gotta get elected before you can support anything, and the Repubs have this big 'ol trap called "gay marriage" waiting for the Dems.

Does anyone think that Biden would OPPOSE gay marriage once in office? Does anyone think Palin would NOT oppose gay marriage once in office?

To try and equate Obama & Biden's ultimate support of gay rights issues with McCain and Palin's is utter nonsense, and a total distortion of logic.

I can't believe the lack of intelligence of the average American voter if that folksy schtick she embodies is what appeals to them. I should have played a drinking game every time she said the word "maverick." Not to mention that obnoxious wink to the audience.

We've had folksy shtick for the last 8 years in the form of Bush. She kept chiding Biden not to look back. That's exactly what we should do -- she and John SIdney McCain III are more of the same. She and McCain don't represent change at all.

    Hey bijockmuscle,

While I'm no Palin fan (as people know), I find her description as "retarded"" as way over the top. She isn't that, she actually is a very talented woman,
just not the talent I prefer as VP. The comment on her child is totally inappropriate.

Perhaps if you'd grown up with a retarded sister as I did who also had Down's Syndrome, you wouldn't even THINK of saying something so utterly tasteless and pathetic, much less think it was actually funny.

I agree Todd, very much so.

Bijockmuscle, I've always agreed with most of your political positions, but there is a difference between having a responsible political position and
just being vindictive and cruel. Someone who does that loses all crediblity in my eyes. I really hope you just made an error in what you wrote and in reality your a reasonable person. What you said wasn't reasonable.

How can you call a baby retarded? A baby can't even defend its self... This thread should be removed as it serves no purpose.

If the people in control of these boards can see this can you plase take this post down? Thank you icon_biggrin.gif

The only people who use the word retarded in a joke are pre-teens and those who are borderline mentally disabled, as a means to distance themselves from those who are severely mentally disabled.

That minor point aside, it is a serious sign of a society in decline when the bar is so low for a potential executive officer to be deemed successful that some would actually consider that Palin's performance was good in any way. Unless a voter thinks he is presidential material, then no voter should want a candidate who "thinks like them" or "can drink a beer with them". Executive officers should have extraordinary intelligence. Palin did not display even a shred of this.

Formal debates have strict rules of engagement that are agreed-upon in advance. The most basic rule is sincere agreement to answer all questions that are given.

Biden played by the rules, was professional, answered the questions, and demonstrated his knowledge of the job of VP.

Palin evaded many questions. She DEFIED this rule stating she "is not like the others." That, to me, demonstrated the same folksy (telegenic) arrogance GW Bush relies upon. Palin's understanding of the role of VP is twisted. She believes she will have a special agenda and play a new, larger role supervising Congress?! That is NOT the job of VP. Nor is she remotely qualified to even aspire to same.

In the end, Biden appeared "presidential." In contrast, Palin chose to hold/bounce the baby. Yuck.

She looked bad, in an attempt to cover up here lack of knowledge and skill. She simply avoided answering questions and stuck to the planned speeches she had learned. Anyone with a clue, can clearly see that this woman isn't not qualified to be VP.

I think it is McSame, who should be blamed for picking her, and putting her out there like that. He and the Republican party have used this woman and have made her look like a fool. I am surprised womans groups are not complaining about this.

I think anyone with a clue can see that if people are for Palin, they assume victory. If people are for Biden, then they assume victory.

I'm having a hard time understanding what all the fighting is about. Why can't we just vote our conscience and all get along.

alleykatt, I think you need facts to inform your conscience, and you need your conscience to evaluate facts. Neither is sufficient alone.

Given all the comments, i would like to point out that - worse case scenario (and more likely to happen with Palin than Bidden) - Palin just might find herself in a situation where she will have her finger on the "Trigger" to nuclear weapons.
Given her international experience and aparent openess to other belief systems and cultures - does this really make you comfortable?

That's true, but I come to conclusions based on facts outside of RealJock, and apparently everyone else does, too, which is why I haven't seen anyone change their mind. Just people getting angry and offended.

Ok...GW didn't make that mistake. I sincerely doubt Palin will, as she is infinitely more qualified than he is.

Why? Because she didn't throw up on stage?
