What are your memories (good or bad) of Valentine's Day, with current loves, or past loves, or school days, etc. ?

--When I was a little kid, my mother would hide a Valentine card under our breakfast plate, for us to find.

--For our first Valentine's Day, both my then partner and I had secretly bought materials to make each other a very large homemade Valentine.

Filling out and exchanging those little Valentine's with classmates in grade school. It was cool to give them and get them from guys too. Wonder if they do that today?

My only memories were trading cards with fellow students.

It wasn't bad, but watching all the lovey dovey couples in high school made me hate the holiday.

    Now?

I lit a trashcan fire in my high school gym on a dare one Valentine's Day. The smoke detector went off and the whole school had to be evacuated. It was freezing out, and all the girls were wearing skimpy Valentine's Day outfits. The teachers said they would press charges when they found out who did it, but no one ratted me out. When we went back inside the whole school smelled like soot, and the next day at lunch, other students were applauding and hooting for me. I thought for sure I would be arrested, and I was paranoid for the rest of the school year, but I never got caught.

When I was in High School I'd buy flowers and give one to girls in my class. They'd be all d'aww how sweet..thanks bye. I was that pathetic kid that tried super super hard to be liked and just came off as laughable.

The first serious boyfriend I had was when I was in college, and our relationship had just started a few weeks before Valentine's Day. Needless to say, having a first somebody on Valentine's Day, I was pretty eager to do romantic shit to impress him.

He was lucky to have a room all to himself in his dorm, and for some reason he never locked the door. Anyway, fast-forward to Valentine's Day, knowing he had left for work, I went over to his dorm and snuck into his room to get creative. I grabbed a dry erase marker from his board and wrote a long, witty, romantic message on his full-length mirror. I don't remember everything I wrote, but I'm sure I told him how cute he was, yadda-yadda. I did that and left a bag of goodies (chocolates and massage oil!) on his desk then left. I went back to my dorm impatiently waiting for him to return to the surprise in his room.

2.5 hours later he messaged me on AIM telling me to come over right away. No sooner than I arrived, he pounced all over me and got down to business. That was pretty damn sweet.

Instead of a card, I made D a Valentine on printable media with a magnetic backing and cut it into puzzle pieces. I think it was cute... it certainly took hours to create. icon_cool.gif

That Valentine's Day was the best one I've had this millenium. Perhaps ever.

I remember February 14th, 2012. To this day I wonder what was going on inside his mind as he stopped and looked in my direction...

When I was a kid, we had to give a v-day card to everyone in the class. I would open the cards from all the boys first. I didn't bother with some of the girls.
