Piccadilly saidTypical republican argument: compare data when Obama took office (January 2009) to when his first term ended (December 2012). Conclusion: he's a terrible president.
Of course, ignore everything that happened in between, especially during 2009 because whatever happened during that year was a result of policy that republicans left over after leaving office.
Out of those 15,753,786 new Americans on food stamps since then, 47% of them signed onto the program in 2009 alone.
Now granted the number is still increasing, at a much lower rate, but still... But that's not Bush's fault, it's the fault of every republican in congress who do fuck all except for filibustering bills every opportunity they get.
Typical democrat/liberal argument - government spending will increase jobs. The only solution to economic calamity is to spend more of the money you don't have.
That's not a democrat/liberal argument, it's an argument plain and simple, and a valid argument for that matter. That's exactly what the government over here has been doing (who's conservative by the way). Coupled with a solid banking system, this recession went pretty much unnoticed over here.
The stimulus might not have been the success it was anticipated to be, but the fact is that the unemployment rate has been steadily decreasing ever since it's been passed. And if the republicans weren't so hell bent on blocking every new initiative the president is putting forward, the situation would be better.
It's ironic because if the republicans were in power, they'd do everything that Obama is trying to do, the only difference is they would have democratic support. They didn't mind spending money for two never-ending bogus wars and bailing out the banks. Why would they mind spending money on stimulus all of the sudden? They mind only for political gain. But thankfully, most people are not that stupid. If last election wasn't a strong enough wake up call for you, and you still think that Obama is the problem and not you, then by all means, keep on doing what you're doing. You'll just get smacked that much harder four years from now.
