Is it normal for your ribs to show a little?

I just started really working out after I started eating pretty well (Paleo) and I have noticed that my ribs show a little and a good amount when I lift my arms. I was wondering if I need to gain weight or if this is normal to see your ribs a little?

It looks a little more defined than the picture shows, but this is what I'm talking about...

If you want to be ripped, yes.

    If not, no.

Looking mighty fine to me. Paleo has really defined mine and the adonis belt as well.

It could also be the serratus anterior muscles. They can, at times, be difficult to distinguish.

Those aren't ribs. Those are obliques.

EDIT: Notice how the fitness model has well defined obliques and how they look a little like ribs.

I just was worrying that my new diet and exercise routine was working too well.

Thank you everyone. This is the most helpful forum I have ever found. I was thinking I would get some rude or unhelpful responses. icon_biggrin.gif

    The OP looks fine.

You can do exercises that will add a little more muscle on top, if the prominence of the underlying bone structure bothers you. Results vary, of course.

..Ooooo!.. So they're not ribs?! --- icon_redface.gificon_redface.gif... Then how are these muscles positioned?!... icon_redface.gif I mean, do they lay on top of the actual ribs?... Do they attach it to the back muscles?.. Is there a serratus posterior, then?... icon_question.gif?
