Do you like being called "cute"?

I have mixed feeling about this word. My friend told me that whenever he couldn't find a suitable adjective to describe a person's appearance, he tends to use the word "cute". It's a polite way to tell someone he's not hot but he's not that ugly either.

    Your thoughts?

I disagree. I think some people may even prefer their guys to be on the cute side. I always assumed the expression refers to those who are young looking or have more soft features which can be fairly attractive. I don't necessarily see it as a bad thing unless the guys you like prefer more rugged features.

it can mean different things. YOU are a cutie, and cute, but I like guys in their 40 and 30s and 50s, to me those guys are handsome. you're not in that age range, so yoou're cute,. In 20 years you'll be handsome (maybe unless you let yourself go).

    Does that make sense?

I don't feel flattered at all whenever people call me "cute". It reminds me of children with high probability of getting friendzoned.

Shit, I'd settle for "palatable." Cute would be a step up for me.

    Better than being called ugly

But it gets too far when people say, "You're as cute as a button"

It almost feels like one of those obligatory compliments, but I'd take it.
