I am planning on attending a march/demonstration in DC in a little over a month. Does anyone know of a good place to stay? I stayed at the Mayflower last time I was there and it was nice. Just wondering if there are any other good spots.

    Thanks

I will be there that weekend too.
Got a hotel from price line.
But you are looking for something good.

I have come to prefer smaller hotels - bed and breakfast, boutique, etc. But, sometimes they're a rip-off and sometimes they're uncomfortable.

I am a member of SPG. I like their hotels.
    It's not too expensive either.

If you drive, you can choose some place further from downtown.
    Like college park.

I need to decide. I'm not driving, but I think I'll rent a car when I get there. I hate paying for taxis, but with parking costs, it's usually not that far off. I'd like to see Georgetown, but I don't know if it's beyond the scope of the subway. I've also heard that there are some good gay bars in DC.

I really need to start planning the little details of my trip.

St. Gregory is nice and reasonably priced. You even get a little kitchen in the room. The Fireplace is pretty close by too.

You can't get to Georgetown directly using the Metro. You can get there by getting off at either Rosslyn and walking across the Key Bridge, or Foggy Bottom and walking down Pennsylvania to M St. Both are ten minute walks.

I seriously suggest not getting a car in DC. Driving in DC is hard enough for all of the locals as it is.

I stayed at the Hotel Helix and I liked it! Very swanky feeling and cool! I'm just not sure on how far it is from the march you're going to.

Not really much for value there. I stayed at the Windsor Inn. Very historic guesthouse and quite nice.
