How come only old men creepers are looking at my profile?!

So, needless to say, I am not interested in seeing your profile -- but then, I'm just an "old man creeper," so my opinion probably does not count. Unfortunately, I can't explain why young "non-creepers" apparently ignore your profile. However, it does seem rather unlikely that rude postings will attract what you're looking for, so you might give that some consideration.

I assume that when someone looks at my profile, they are looking at my profile. They are not hitting on me, talking to me, or even greeting me. I rarely send emails to anyone younger than 35 because there's a lot of ageism here amongst the young. I no longer waste my time unless a post of his is very powerful, and they've indicated that he is not the type that assumes that everyone who talks to him is hitting on him. I know nothing of you since I haven't looked at your profile. Now, I have no desire to learn about someone who will consider me creepy without knowing me. So this 'old man' will not look. You may feel free to look at my profile as I won't make the same [diametric] presumptions. Obviously, from some of the above posts, there's plenty of good, harsh, sage advice, ready for you to dismiss under the guise of 'creepiness'.

I usually look at someone's profile because they make a comment about age or where they live and I want to see their age or where they are from.

Maybe too strong a word, but I was left endless messages and when I gave up trying to keep up, began getting calls at work to my boss, as we couldn't take calls directly, and then my parents place!?!?! I came home from work a couple of times to find a guest sitting in the lobby, telling me he'd been there for 3 hours. That was too much. I did my best to be kind but it was hard to when feeling a tad invaded! Tom, when someone looks at your profile, they're often looking to see what you have to say. They enjoyed (or didn't) a post and want to find out a little about the poster before responding. We usually look at profiles of people whose writing impacted us one way or another and we admire. Remember that 'old' just means a span of years between you and others, and nothing more...try to think of us as just older versions of yourself. That should help. Remember too, that a lot of us older guys know a lot of younger guys that you might find interesting, ahem! If I know two guys on here that I think might hit it off with each other, I won't hesitate introducing them to each other. A little bit of match-making, eh? Cheers! I've met some amazingly nice, very bright, awesome guys on RJ under 30, and if I were not open to that I would be the one missing out. So, Tom, open your mind to all ages and you may just learn a thing or two, discover some great people, and you'll see that us old guys aren't all a bunch of geezers with a walking stick in one hand and their heart medication in the other. Being a veteran on RJ I haven't posted in many of the forums just because im not the forum type, but this one caught my attention. I am the total opposite of you Tom, I am interested in men OVER 30 and very rarely find a guy around my age attractive or interesting, in my opinion they are boring and childish and I just feel the need to punch them right in the nose (I wouldn't really, I just have the tendency of over exaggerating what I say), but when they email me or send and instant message I still give them a chance to make me want to punch them in the face and thats how I find the select few that are really cool to chat with. This post made me sad because its your type of young guy that ruin it for people like me who enjoy talking to intelligent, interesting older men with an opinion, because like one or a few of the older men in this forum topic said, they don't even bother with the younger crowd because of people like you. So just learn from your mistake and watch your mouth around your elders, THEY CAN TEACH YOU ALOT! I know I have learned quite a bit lol

I think the way the initial post was written was offensive. I doubt if it was meant to be, when a guy is frustrated things sometimes come out wrong. He made an error in judgement and has learned from it. Hopefully this forum topic will now go to the RJ Forum archives.

Troll was the word for it back in the day. My best friend of 25 years teases me by calling me Troll but I've aged better than he did. Before the internet. When I was trying to come out at 22, guys older than 25 didn't even exist in my social circle. The only place to interact with other gay men was at a gay club. So you didn't have to interact with the older men much, I even think they had there own clubs. I think it must be annoying to be young nowadays since so many guys can interact on the internet with you that you don't want to. I'm glad some young guys want to learn from the older, I still don't much. Tom if you are not sure about your sexuality, you might just want more muscle mass and male bonding. Your body won't completely mature for a few more years. I used to see alot of college guys pal around in the gym as straight friends and it's wonderful to see that. And sometimes people look just to know how best to respond to a forum post. I have friends of all ages and types-- and a lot of them have moved far away. So I'm always looking for new friends close by who have common interests, and I don't care what age they are.

I usually find that the most attractive guys on this site are 30 and above, not because of their bods, but because they're usually mature, settled, educated, have a direction in life. Don't rule guys out just cause of their age, however, we all have different personal preferences and I don't hate on people who do, but I think you could be more openminded as there are some fricking hot guys on here in their 30s!!!!

I would never approach a younger guy unless he has expressed an interest in me first, but thankfully, my 22 year old bf, I am over 50, as releived me of that need. And yes, while we have many different interests, on an emotional level, we "get" each other and are integrated as one. Perhaps the issue is not that older guys are looking at you, but rather, why aren't younger guys looking? And just a little lecture, yea, I know, an age thing. Those of us over 50 do deserve a bit of respect. We are the ones who broke down the gay barriers. I remember when gay bars were raided. Now we are front and center on the national scene. To me, this is so amazing and is something we could never have envisioned.

Are they just looking for a daddy? I have a son that just turned 21, it's hard for me to look at someone your age and want to ground you for being on this site. However, I think the young guys who hit my profile are cute and I find it a compliment. I just find a connection with guys around my age. BTW, I looked at your profile out of curiosity....hope it doesn't creep you out.

I also was scared of older men and wanted to date men my own age. If you look at our community some people like twinks, some like dads, bears, etc. I think a preference if fine. His problem was in labeling all older men (self included) as creepy. Our confrontation of him has not all been mature either, those of us who are older need to set a better example, and maybe remind ourselves how we felt at 19.

The poor kid's just coming to terms with his sexuality, wants to meet likeminded guys his own age, but he's deluged by a million reqeusts by older men. Straight guys and girls don't have to deal with this. Though many of you older men take offense to the term creeper rightly, you have to look at it from his perspective. And your responses are pretty indicative of your own securities, what do you care what some little 19 year old thinks? Or is it because you secretely seek validation from him because you think he's something hot?

leatherhound Posts: 40	Dec 26, 2008 1:48 PM GMT i have second thoughts from reading other reactions to this thread. maybe i need to be more tolerant of his attitude. if he is made uncomfortable by older men looking at his profile why should not realjock allow members to have a filter to block viewers that are outside a chosen age range? it sounds like a good money spinning service. if he has to pay to keep creeps like me from viewing, it would test the level of discomfort he suffers. realjock admin - any chance of a royalty for this idea??
