Which is a better animal to have: a cat or a dog ?

They are both fun and unique animals, but they both require certain ways to be taken care off. Thinking of this made me think which one would I rather have a cat or a dog because they both require time and effort, but provide joy to (mostly) everyone.

    Both.
I got puppies and a kitten at the same time. They all think that the cat is just another dog, except with the peculiar ability to climb trees.

cats you can leave alone ... but when you walk into an apartment with cats ... you can immediately smell that there are cats in the apartment ... cats like to just on the table where you eat... after digging around in the kitty litter

Depends on your work schedule. I work 12 hours a day sometimes longer and I can't leave a dog alone that long. To me, that's neglect. A cat would be more ideal for me because of their independence but my bf is allergic to them. icon_neutral.gif

Depends on what your looking for, if you just want nice cute, fuzzy animal that you don't have to work with really, then I'd say a cat. But if you want an animal you can actually somewhat interact with I'd say a dog.

Had a cat from the age of 2 to 17...he didn't do much except eat, sleep, and rub up against me when he wanted petting.

Got a dog when I was 14, he ran up to me whenever I came home, he protected the house, we played games in the back yard..and he definitely was in sync with my emotions/energy..its almost like he knew when I was happy, sad, etc. Was also very friendly, especially towards children. My cat on the other hand didn't like anyone except me and my aunt lol.

Cat. I have 2, and have been seeing someone an hour away from me, wouldn't be able to spend my weekends away with a dog.

My cats are the most loving, loyal, and attentive things ever though. Not sure what I do to cats to make them like this (spoiled), but it's like having 2 little dogs who can look after themselves icon_razz.gif

My 2 cats both play fetch, greet me at the door, stay near me in the house, watch TV with me and sleep on the bed. One likes water and goes in the shower with me.

Im a dog person but there not very independant. Consider the race and the place where you live. You gotta teach them where to go pee and poop and well have a lot of patience.

Cats seem to be very low mainentce (yes i have one) but darn i cant leave a damn steak out and the fucking cat is eating it!!

I love my animals and im a freak if something happens to them!

I've always had dogs and cats, each is special and have a certain type of companionship to offer..

Dogs are loyal and dependent on you, they make you feel loved and wanted, they worship you as a god.

Cats are also affectionate, but independent, will teach you that you're not the God the dog makes you out to be ;)

Cats are easier to take care of but dogs are usually way more affectionate. And the smell of a puppy is great.

A long time ago, the dogs were all at school and they had hung their assholes on pegs in the hallway. Later that day when there was a fire drill they all ran out and just grabbed the first asshole they could find. That is why they are still smelling around looking for their asshole to this day. And then they love to lick your face.

Cat is the better choice unless you have a big property for a dog to do his business, you have to walk that dog two to three times a day even if there is a hurricane, tornado, extreme temps with humidity, raining, snowing or you are sick as a dog with the flu.
