    According to Muscle and FItness:

    1. Honor thy line for the Water Fountain.
    2. Thou shalt not giant set in a crowded gym.
    3. Thou shalt clean up after thyself.
    4. Thou shalt not walk around naked.
    5. Thou shalt not carry a cell phone.
    6. Thou shalt offer a spot.
    7. Thou shalt not interrupt a set.
    8. Thou shalt not sing along with thy iPod.
    9. Honor thy new guys.
    10. Honor thy equipment.

I have to admit I'm guilty of violating #1 and #8. Which one(s) are you guilty of violating?

Thanks for putting that down in words.

My biggest pet peeve at the moment is the use of the dry sauna. Guys come in fully fucking dressed, shoes included and sit up on the wood decks. The decks are now filthy from shoes.

PLEASE take off your shoes before you enter a dry sauna and even if you're shy wear as little as possible. The heat will cause you to sweat and then whatever contaminates are in your clothes come out.

Has anyone else seen this? Do you tell management? Have you told anyone to please not wear shoes in the sauna?

I guess living in Europe for so long I learned sauna etiquette and managers there would call you out on it and toss your ass out if you didn't listen. Here the managers do nothing but probably because they just don't know any better.

Some guys think sitting in the sauna is a way to warm up before a workout. Crazy.

I'll carry my cell phone if I want to.

If I don't sit there texting or talking on the phone - then it's not your fucking issue.

Usually giant sets require three or more pieces of equipment at the same time.

I don't think any. At times I forget to strip down bars and plate-loading machines, and I hate when guys ahead of me don't do it either. I can finish with 8 plates on the leg press, but I can't start with 8 plates.

Oh, well I am not at the point where I need 3 or more. I am however at the point what I need 2 at times. and as long as I am courteous and wipe down a machine as I finish it during a set. let people work in, I will not stop doing them. Most of my super sets involve one machine and dumbbells, so people can't really bitch and if they do, fuck em, I pay my dues just like they do.

you forgot #11 Thou shall wear age-appropriate attire.

I'm sick of seeing guys not in their 20s flitting around in Abercrombie t-shirts, split down the side. Even if you have the body for it, that look is over.

Carrying around your cell phone is fine as long as you're using an app to track your weights, reps, and sets. It's really no different than carrying around a notebook.

Also, what about "Thou shalt put the weights back in the proper place." This should be number one. Also, "Thou shalt not grunt unreasonably" and "Thou shalt not drop the weights" (although the latter may qualify under #10) should be included.

    From Muscle and Fitness:
"There is nothing more distracting than someone yammering away on his cell phone when you are in the middle of a set. Most people stay connected 24/7 these days, but if you expect to get results in the gym, you're not going to get them if you're checking your phone every 10 seconds. Whatever it is, it can wait. Leave the phone in your car or locker."

I violate #s 5 and 8. But I don't talk on my cell; I use it, an iPhone, for music with my earphones. Oh, and I sing well enough to sing softly when I'm at the gym. So screw # 8. icon_lol.gif

I carry a cell phone, but don't chat on it. I track my workouts on it. I'm not strong enough to offer a spot to most guys. I lip sync to my music, not sing out loud.

But for some, I'm sure it's just a comfortable t-shirt for a workout. What's "over" about that?

Your problem - not the guy's who is wearing it. The last thing we need is a fashion police in the gym, in particular one that is age and body conscious. Let people wear whatever is comfortable for them, unless it's dangerous or grossly inappropriate, like a jockstrap only.
