My phone has recently passed on into that great other dimension of metaphysical existence that I assume phones go to. Lol and I am very lost without it. I literally depend on that thing for everything. I'm actually kind of worried how I will get to places on time without it. Lol I even slept with it. How attached are you to your phone?

Yeah. It's more convenient than my laptop. Plus sites like RJ work well on a mobile device.

Within 10 years, cell 'phones will be implanted into people by their 12th birthday. That will eliminate the sore ear and sore arm problem that so many people experience as the result of holding a cell 'phone to their ears during all waking hours.

I have it around, but people rarely text me, and absolutely never call me so it's rather useless unless I want to check the weather when I'm out. icon_confused.gif

Lol I feel the same way. Whenever I lose it I feel like I just lost a family member.

Lol I remember the first time it broke three years ago I cried like a baby as it slowly faded into that other realm.

Someone ask me how it broke. I still enjoy telling the story.

Everytime I lose my phone or it breaks or the battery dies...I'm like thank Jesus, get this thing away from me. I hate when I get too dependent on it.....so I guess to answer your question, I sometimes DO get too attached. Humans and technology have a weird relationship.

Well it actually started the night before in the student rec hall. For the first time in a while I was connecting with some of the other black students on campus and so we chatted and hung for a while. It was great. We cacked jokes, drank and every now and then discussed things about out community. It was a real life episode of A Different World. Anyway I got tired and I didn't have a pillow and we all were gonna crash in the rec center and I made a pillow out of my fabric softener and my dirty laundry and some sheets. I went back upstairs after a while and went to sleep and let my phone sit next to my head as I slept. When. I woke up I wondered why I smelled lavender and rose hip. It was because the fabric softener has spilled everywhere and had got into my phone. I freaked out and like an idiot tried to wash it out with some more water. Obviously that didn't help me at all. The speaker got fucked and it was hard to hear and the screen was fucking up. I had no cash on my card so I was trying to call my mom back in Florida to wire me some money before my phone died and I had no way to contact her. Over time it was fading and I remember sitting in my besties car as the phone finally died and I cried. She told me to get over it and just buy a new one. At one point I remember being in Walmart speaking to my phone like it was a dying child. The looks I got that day.

And so I did and that one broke as well in another careless act of me not paying attention but that's a story for another time.

Lol I accidentally left mine in freezer. I was SO happy he survived. I was blowing into him trying to warm him up. Everyone else thought I looked like I was performing CPR. Lol he pulled through.

My husband sent his Samsung through the washing machine, discovered it when he was loading the dryer. He thought maybe the jar of uncooked rice trick might bring it back, I said not after over 30 minutes of hot soapy agitation, a rinse and 2 spins. He was panicked at the thought of no phone the next day at his office, and wanted us to run out after 8 PM and buy a new one.

My better solution was to call up AT&T and have them reactivate my old iPhone 3GS with his Samsung's number, and then synced it to his computer to install all his contacts. He had a working phone back within 30 minutes, no loss of numbers, and it cost us nothing. I now always keep a spare phone in reserve as we go through upgrades, in case he does that again (or maybe I will this time).
