Ok so for the past 6 months or so my face has had some slight redness in certain areas mainly around my nose and the surrounding area. Reading online the closest matching description I could find was rosacea. I'm not sure if it is or not but I'll find out in about a month or so. I settup an appointment with my doctor and if she cannot figure out what it is I'll have her reccomend me for a derm. Basically if you look fairly closely you see these purple/red colored dots. Now I'm really not sure what pores look like so I guess these could be my pores? Although if they are they only noticable around my nose and area surrounding my nose? Any suggestions on what I should use in the meantime until i see a specialist?
Definitely not an expert, but I've had skin issues and issues with redness and acne for most of my life. I've gotten it under control now, and it's the stuff that's said to cure the problem which actually makes it worse. My pores would get big when I was using anything with benzoyl peroxide. The dots could be them I suppose. Did you make any changes in skin or hair care products? Could it be allergies?
Is your skin easily irritated? If so, I'd probably use a gentle cleaner, I like Nivea for men, shave gel formulated for sensitive skin, and a basic moisturizer if necessary (for me moisturizing is essential as it gets colder).

Follow your doctor's advice, and ask her if you should get a consult with a dermatologist. Unless she says otherwise, I would not try to treat yourself before you see a specialist, as this may make a diagnosis more difficult. You want a specialist to see your symptoms as they are, not masked.
