Fasting diets - where you restrict calorie intake on two non-consecutive days a week- are the latest UK diet craze.

    Has anyone tried it?

I am tempted as I want to lose about a stone in weight over the next couple if months. It's crept on to me over the last year, as I changed from a job where I was prettying on my feet all day to one where I sit down/drive for about half my working week now.

You'll be starving if your blood sugar isn't stable first. It generally isn't a good idea, your metabolism will slow down to conserve fat and muscle.

If you are thinking of fasting, do some research on Intermittent Fasting. leangains.com is one of the more popular sites that describe how to do it and build muscle. Intermittent Fasting does not restrict calorie intake, it just windows it into a shorter time period.

I've been doing it for a few months now and I'm quite pleased with the results. Your metabolism does not slow down and I have not gone into starvation mode as many people believe you do. It's helped me push over a weight loss plateau.

I used to enjoy fasting, but finally slowed down after getting a shitload of speeding tickets.
